I’d keep it factual and strong, especially around the insect identification: say what you saw and experienced, and that an image search suggested ticks/another biting insect, rather than stating definitively what they were unless the hotel or pest control confirmed it.
I had a really upsetting experience at the Drake Longchamp and unfortunately would not recommend staying here.
During my stay, I kept waking up with bites on my body. At first, I genuinely thought they were mosquito bites and tried not to think too much of it. However, on my final night, I woke up absolutely covered in bites — and I mean all over my body. There were so many that you could easily have mistaken it for a severe allergic reaction.
I then noticed a small insect in the room. I took a photo and searched it using Google Images, which suggested it could be a type of tick or similar biting insect. Regardless of exactly what the insect was, waking up covered from head to toe in bites while staying in a hotel is completely unacceptable.
Another issue was the housekeeping. During my stay, my bedding was not changed. From my experience, the room was not serviced with fresh sheets during the stay; it appeared that the main cleaning and linen change only happened between guests.
The worst part is that the problem doesn’t simply end when I check out. I now have to take precautions with everything I travelled with because I do not want to risk bringing insects into my home. I cannot simply arrive home, unpack and carry on as normal. My clothes and belongings need to be thoroughly cleaned/disinfected, and I am planning to take my clothing straight to a laundrette rather than bringing potentially affected items into my home. Even my hair will need to be thoroughly washed.
For a three-star hotel, I find this completely unacceptable and honestly disgusting. A hotel room should, at the absolute minimum, be somewhere you can sleep without waking up covered in unexplained bites.
What started with me thinking, “It’s probably just mosquitoes,” ended with me leaving the hotel extremely uncomfortable and worried about bringing whatever was in that room home with me. This has completely overshadowed my stay in Geneva.
