The hotel room just ok. Air conditioning not too cold. Parking is free provided by the hotel but limited. Staff hotel is helpful and friendly. Deposit rm100 want you check in to the hotel. Easy to get the food and drinks by walking distance.

Room is big, towels are fresh and clean and location is good. However, room service did not provide new soaps during daily cleaning.

Average Stay with Room for Improvement – 3/5 We were two business travelers from Bangladesh staying at The Merchant Hotel Penang for a short work trip. Overall, our experience was okay, with a mix of positives and a few things that could be improved. Pros: The location is definitely the best part – it’s right in the heart of George Town, which made it easy for us to get around for both work and some quick sightseeing. The staff were friendly and polite, always ready to help when we had questions. Our twin room was clean and comfortable enough for a few nights, and we appreciated the strong Wi-Fi for getting work done. Cons: The breakfast buffet was quite basic and repetitive – not the best start to the day if you’re expecting variety. We also faced a small maintenance issue with the bathroom, which could use a bit more attention. The hotel is close to a mosque, and while we respect the call to prayer, light sleepers may find it disruptive early in the morning. Parking was not a concern for us, but it did look quite limited for those driving in. Final Thoughts: It’s a decent option if you’re traveling for business and looking for a centrally located, budget-friendly place. Just manage your expectations regarding food and amenities, and maybe request a quieter room if noise is a concern.

I seldom write bad reviews about any hotel but this is too disappointing. The toilet bowl is so dirty with stain on it, the towel is stained too, the toiletries kit are just simply threw on the bathroom rack, the bath tub is stained and yellowish, and the sound proofing is terrible. The location is not bad close to many eateries and pubs which causing so much noise at night. I can hear the traffic and pub music all night. The ridiculous part is i am told that there is no buffet breakfast on the first day and i requested sunny side up where they need 3 persons to come to me and check what is that. This is like the worst ever experience staying hotel like this.

Nice located hotel with jus footsteps to famous penang food street and souvenir shops. Reception was friendly, breakfast was simple and nice, provided free parking which is absolutely suitable for drivers, as that is quite difficult to find parking at George Town. 4.5/5 Will come again

The room was very dirty, it was not cleaned the next day, the air conditioner was not working, the room was very hot at night, and the water heater worked only sometimes.

The bedsheet is not clean, having many hairs. The bathroom water is dirty, firstly open the water come out is yellow, after few second only turn back normal. The bathtub water is stuck.

A wonderful experience. Staff were very polite, especially a staff by the name of Aida. Very helpful. The hotel is in a strategic location.

Best location with bus stop downstairs direct to entopia/beach/Penang hill/cat free shuttlebus. I like the contour pillow and staff are super nice and friendly
