We had a lovely Family meal at the Sheppey this weekend; the staff are warm and welcoming and couldn’t do enough for you. The menu looked amazing with lots of choice especially for veggies & vegans. I went for a Pork belly Roast which was absolutely incredible but It’s also nice to have other main meal options on a Sunday other than a roast if you didn’t fancy it. A quirky pub with a buzzing atmosphere. Perfect.

Quirky, warm, hospitable, fun and a terrific Sunday Roast - lovely to see vegetarians are well catered for! Service was great and we had a lovely happy Sunday lunch. Word of warning...must book in advance! Journey to the pub could be a little treacherous due to the flooding on the Levels.

We had a lovely time staying here. The room was large and comfortable. It was too cold to use the balcony but we enjoyed the view. The fresh berries, yogurt and granola made a tasty breakfast.

Such a let down. Looks the same & menu sounds the same - but this place is lightyears away from its brilliant heyday under its original owners. New owners have just not kept the quality of food, service or atmosphere. 3 of us with different mains all had to leave our food. Service had to be chased up. The dipping oil tasted horribly like sunflower! What a shame.

Food was always very good. But their Fish and Chips is now my gold standard; it's superb. I give all other fish and chips a 'Sheppy' rating. Try it, you'll be amazed. And their accomodations are pleasant too. They only have a few rooms but they are well appointed and comfortable.

The Sheppey Inn is quirky and I should imagine that when it first opened it was quite novel. However, now it is looking a bit tired, the stairs carpet need a good clean, I do understand that it is a walking area but the first 4-5 steps are grubby. The room could also use a deep clean, for example the TV screen was smeary, vase was dusty/dirty and the cotton wool container was the same. The breakfast was a bit lacklustre and definitely not continental, couple of boxed mueslis, yoghurt and fruit (banana and apple's). If a breakfast can't be served then maybe offer some pastries. The room could also do with a few items to make it a bit easier to stay, hooks for coats, and towels in the bathroom. Chest of drawers for pants / socks etc. The bed was lovely and comfortable and the balcony was lovely in the morning. The surrounding countryside beautiful.

We last visited the restaurant in September 2020 and had a really excellent meal with great service so were looking forward to our return earlier this month, but it was disappointing from the get-go. On our arrival there seemed to be an enormous amount of fussing by the staff even though the restaurant was at least half-empty at that stage. A member of the bar-staff muttered, 'They can get very particular' as we watched three of the restaurant team chatter about the booking for an inordinate amount of time before we were seated. The service was lackadaisical to say the least and the food was average though the prices are equal to London's. The 'fish stew' was a thin, tasteless soup, basically mixed seafood boiled in watery vegetable stock, with the bread provided with it identifiably Tesco's sourdough, and not too fresh at that. My partner was equally unimpressed with their dish so we cut our losses and left. Such a shame because it's still a decent pub and the dining room and location are really great, but the restaurant seems to have lost its game. As others have asked, what happened? Has it changed hands?

I'm not entirely sure whats happened but food quality and staff quality have dropped recently? You are by far my favorite out of town bar and restaurant, but whats happened? food standard has dropped to what can only be described as a cheaper pub food,i understand that this isn't a full restaurant and i enjoyed similar products from you before but recently whats happened? I also feel an air of tension between new kitchen staff and front of house staff, one individual even left the kitchen and muttered " that's why she left" ....now what was this is reference to? its very concerning to hear such a quote from staff? maybe a new cycle is needed for kitchen staff if your front of house aren't communicating properly with kitchen staff. Drink is superb here and this establishment has a cozy warm feel, but its recently turnt cold and doesn't feel the hard working well oiled machine it used to be.

We used to love this place but were disappointed by our most recent visit. Despite booking weeks before, we were given a very cramped table and very close to the next party. This was the result of an extra seat having been put in where there shouldn't have been one on the adjoining table. The response to my wife's subsequent email complaint was far from contrite. The place has clearly lost its charm since the previous owner sold up.
