Grosmont House

Decided to stay in Grosmont and travel in to Whitby by train to avoid the parking issues and this proved a wise decision. The large guest house was quiet, beautifully clean and comfortable and provided a really good breakfast with quality local produce and plenty of choice. Nice touch was the provision of fresh milk and water for each individual room in a guest fridge. Would definitely return!

Second time we've stayed here. We were going on a steam train Christmas lunch, and this B&B is within touching distance of Grosmont Station. Comfy bed. Good shower. Excellent breakfast. Very much worth a visit if you're in the area. Would certainly return.

Stayed for 2 nights while experiencing lunch on NYMR train. Welcome from Selma was so lovely. B and B is spotless and very homely. We Stayed in the Bridgestones room. It had a Massive king size bed and huge en-suite and double shower. Breakfasts were freshly cooked and amazing with lots of choices. Fresh milk for the room was available in a small fridge for making drinks. Little touches that made all the difference. Three minutes walk if that to Grosmont train station. Plenty of parking spaces and free WiFi. Would definitely recommend and will return again for our next train trip. Also good location for staying and touring to Whitby or Goatland or Pickering.

I spent three wonderful nights at Grosmont house with my tiny baby and felt so well looked after. The room was bright, clean, fresh and extremely comfortable and the individual care and attention each guest received at breakfast was like nothing I’ve ever experienced in a hotel before. The food was cooked to perfection and nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere was calming and relaxing and the owners were very knowledgeable about the area and I thought it was a lovely touch that they remembered what each guest had been planning for the day and asked how it was at breakfast the next morning. I definitely plan to return for another restful break.

A unique and magical place to stay which fulfilled all expectations and gave a cracking start to my 70th birthday (December) celebrations. Chosen initially due to its track-side location for our NYMR Autumn Outlander steam train ride/silver service lunch, we quickly realised we’d found a rather special gem set in lovely gardens. Our top-notch, ‘Bridgestones’ super-king room with fabulous en suite shower was just a staircase above the stylish, beamed, dining/ breakfast room where wonderful breakfasts were served at beautifully set tables. A return visit but this time to the one-bedroomed apartment. The location is perfect for a get-away in the Yorkshire moors, tucked away in the hillside just up from Grosmont Station. The hosts are extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful and the apartment was cosy, well-furnished and comfortable. As with the B & B bedrooms, the whole building has character and a peaceful atmosphere. The apartment was clean and ready on arrival. There is a small car park for residents and a garden where you can sit and enjoy a summer evening supper or just soaking up the surroundings. It is worth noting that the apartment can only be accessed via a metal staircase (similar to an emergency exit staircase) and is quite high above ground level for those nervous of heights. Looking forward to our next stay. :-)

Just had a 2 night stay at Grosmont House B&B for my 60th birthday, Chris & Selma are lovely people & are very welcoming, the place is spotless, our room was the Bridestone what a lovely room with a massive comfortable bed and a fantastic bathroom en suite. The breakfast is all top knotch & the attention to detail is fantastic, also the lady who Chris & Selma have working for them is very polite & nothing is too much trouble for her, me & my wife really enjoyed our stay at Grosmont House & will return in the future thank you Selma & Chris for making our stay with you special . Stayed here for 2 nights. Parking easy and plenty of it. A friendly welcome from Chris and check in was easy. Room lovely, overlooking NYMR. Breakfast was a delight and freshly cooked by Selma. Overall a really nice place to spend a couple of days. Would hope to return.

A nice place in a great location just a 5 minute walk from Grosmont Station. Its not a modern hotel, and rooms are not soundproofed so you can expect to overhear other guests coming and going. The showers are difficult to set to the right heat and are affected by other people using water. A bit of modernisation would help. Decor in room dated and could do with refreshing but otherwise, a nice friendly place to spend a few nights.
