Xige Hotel (Tianhe Interchange Branch of Guangzhou Zoo Subway Station)

Absolutely terrible. The air conditioning was incredibly noisy and didn't even cool the room. Out of all the outlets, only three worked, and the two by the bed were completely dead. The stairwell was cluttered with building materials. The room was full of mosquitoes and even cockroaches. When I first entered, I found the previous guest's trash in the toilet, and the bin hadn't been emptied properly. The staff claimed it had just been cleaned, so I guess they were implying I put it there? The bathroom smelled awful. There was loud renovation noise in the morning, and the soundproofing was terrible. The bathroom door, when wet, becomes transparent – is this supposed to be a love hotel? The mirror on the desk was also broken; the light wouldn't turn on, and it couldn't be fixed in place, making it useless. There was limescale everywhere in the bathroom, making it look disgustingly dirty. As soon as I walked in, there was a foul smell. The lighting was dim, and the window was tiny. For 280 a night, a hotel like this is the worst in Guangzhou. Its only redeeming quality is being next to the subway station.

Fantastic location! It's super close to the [subway station/attraction/airport], just a few minutes' walk, and there are plenty of dining and shopping options nearby. Even though it's on a busy street, the soundproofing is excellent, so it's really quiet at night. It's definitely a top choice for both transportation and convenience.

When booking: Facilities: There was supposed to be a desk, but it was actually just a small round table. When I called, they were very dismissive, saying that some rooms don't have these features, so they couldn't provide them. However, there was a large projector, which was fine. But the projector started flickering red, blue, and green after just 10 minutes, making it unwatchable. Cleanliness: There were no shoes in the bathroom; you had to call to ask for them.

The hotel was under renovation, which I understand, but the management should know better than anyone whether they could accommodate that many rooms. Hot water was unavailable, making showering a problem. They didn't answer the phone, and the front desk's answers were vague. Warm water didn't arrive until after 11 pm, and frankly, it was still a bit cold for showering. The bathroom also had unfinished paint on the walls, and the bed sheets had holes. It was a very uncomfortable stay.

I've never seen such a terrible hotel! Access to the room is done without a key card; the door can be opened and closed at will, and other people's doors can be opened as long as no one is home. Four out of five electrical outlets in the room were broken, the TV wouldn't turn on, the hairdryer was broken, and the air conditioner was rattling and worn. The soundproofing was terrible; you could hear everyone talking. The housekeeping was also poor; there were no disposable toiletries. Even the elevator had wooden paneling.

Terrible, absolutely terrible. The photos are misleading! The hygiene is appalling, and it stinks horribly. The bathroom sink is completely yellowed and covered in cigarette ash. I don't even dare to shower! The bedding is all torn and pilling, and it costs 150 yuan a night. Sleeping under a bridge would be better than sleeping here.

The hotel is old; there's a hole in the wall, and when I looked at the sink cabinet, there were salted duck eggs, salt, and pots and pans?! I even suspected someone had rented out their apartment, or it just wasn't cleaned properly. The sink was broken, and the shower gel wasn't replenished promptly. It's marketed as a hotel but offers guesthouse-like service. The only redeeming quality is the location.
