For a five-star hotel, the general service does not fall into this category. They guaranteed that there was a jacuzzi in their room, and we found ourselves having a simple bathtub without even hydromassage. The room is called deluxe...there is no luxury...the infinity swimming pool provides inactive services. A decent rest. Very attentive staff.

Amazing . Me and my family loved it. We will definitely be coming back. Stunning infinity pool. Lovely views and beaches across the hotel. Would recommend. Extremely delicious food. Beautiful room. Charming staff.

What a beautiful hotel, something for everyone. Peace and tranquility for adults, very child friendly if you have kids. Pools galore! Quiet resort with nice walks. To upgrade to half board was pricey so we ate in local restaurants. The only stress was the 2 women allocating tables in the morning for breakfast. Seemed unnecessary and long queues built up. They just didn’t seem to have it under control. The rooms are beautiful. Would definitely love to return as an ideal location for some winter sun and relaxation!

We booked a 2 bedroom sea view room for our family going by the photos online. When we checked in our view was overlooking a car park with the sea on the horizon! After lengthy arguments with managers we moved room the following day. I would advise anyone looking to book here to forget about booking any meal plan. We had the all inclusive package and struggled to book a table at a restaurant at a decent time, we could only get 8.30pm every night despite booking for our whole weeks stay upon arriving! Last night we had the Japanese’s restaurant booked, we sat down at the show grill table to discover that the show cooking wasn’t part of the all include package and would be chargeable (55 euros each for a cup of fried rice with a handful of prawns and a bit of veg) We did ask to be moved to the non show cooking area which was included in our meal plan but told it was fully booked although we noticed that that area was over half empty the whole time we were there! We have also noticed at the other restaurants when arriving for our 8.30pm table that the restaurants were half empty so left wondering why we couldn’t have had an earlier seating. The food at all the restaurants we did eat in were of poor quality and the drinks included were limited. My 9 year old was left complaining of being hungry around 5.30 when restaurants had no service and there was nowhere to get a snack from. The positives from our stay were that the pool area’s are huge so never struggled to get a bed and the views from the larger pool overlooking the sea are amazing. The grounds are well kept, all in all a beautiful setting hence my 3 out of 5 rating otherwise would have been a 1 out of 5. If you could use the hotel as a base and forget about needing 5 star service, hire a car or factor in taxi rides to explore other restaurants then you’ll have a good time. We took a taxi to Fañabe beach and spent the day at a beach club for one of our days. We paid 80 euros for the use of a Bali bed while there which included 60 euros food/drink spend on anything we liked. This was by far the best service we experienced throughout our holiday! It’s our last night tonight and we will be heading out to eat outside the hotel as we are all bored and fed up with the hotels limited food and drink service! We’re disappointed we paid for the all inclusive package here.

Good property but even after paying over all odds.. que up for over 1/2 for some lunch ... All inclusive is a bit confusing when certain drinks are included in Bar but not in buffet restaurant.. And on top which is included you are told to go outside bar by the person just served you 5 mins back ... Beyond Joke....

What a fantastic stay. Truly 7 days of bliss, in the most idyllic of surroundings. The hotel was incredibly clean throughout with great attention to detail and cleanliness. The rooms were comfortable and the suite was perfect space for a family of four.the entertainment whilst not what we would usually do, was thoroughly enjoyable. The pools have been fantastic for my children (aged 7 and 5) to grow their swimming with confidence. They have enjoyed the array of pools to choose from and loved the mini club. Again, a fantastic array of things for young children to do and learning about Canarian day, volcanoes etc - so culturally perfect too. We were incredibly impressed by the choice of food in the various restaurants. Booking some of them was a little challenging but the buffet accommodated for all requirements with fantastic choice and superb selection of world foods. Every single member of staff was welcoming, polite and helpful. We wanted to pass on particular thanks to a number of staff who were incredible ambassadors for the company. These were Jorges, Rosa, Carlos, Roberto, Alba, Sara, Larabas, Alex, Karen, Kare, Jose (ice cream aficionado) and Alex (children’s bouncy disco) and Laura (in guest experience) But really every member of staff seems happy to be at work. It has been the most wonderful holiday and we cannot wait to return.

The quality of service we have grown to love and expect here only surpasses our expectations. This is our 11th year visiting. We are recognised and greeted as friend by Omar, Lorenzo, Alfonzo and Francisco - we could not ask for more kindness and consideration - thank you with great warmth and gratitude

Myself, partner and 4 year old daughter have just arrived home from a 10 night stay at the Gran Melia. We decided to re visit this hotel after an amazing stay 12 months ago and our little girl often asked to go back. We had high expectations and we were really looking forward to this holiday, but unfortunately we have had a very different experience 2nd time around. Firstly, we found out only when checking in to the hotel that the children’s pool is closed, we were very disappointed this wasn’t communicated to us before hand. The hotel staff explained that Jet2 are at fault for not informing us, but Jet2 only got the notification the day prior. We was reassured that alternatives are offered, but this transpired to be in a cold and very deep family pool which I personally don’t think is an acceptable alternative for small children. Considering this hotel lacks entertainment/ activities for children - the children’s pool being closed made it very difficult to entertain our child for the entire holiday. Flies - they are everywhere! There is a banana plantation next door and this results in the hotel being swamped with flies. They’re in the restaurants & are seen on the food in the buffet area. We had a meal in one a’carte and had to leave due to sheer amount of flies around us & going onto our food. No attmepts were made to control this by staff. Only in the last day of our stay did the hotel start to use citronella candles. There is a terrible drainage smell in certain areas of the hotel. We informed staff who assured us it was coming from the sea - but we were unable to detect the smell anywhere else along the sea front (if even in the sea!) or in the small town. Since then, we have also been told it is coming from the banana plantation. The hotel was hosting a retreat for a major brand and there was a huge influx of guests. This caused problems during the dining times as on occasions there was no food left. Also, certain parts of the hotel were closed off to facilitate for the retreat. This was a huge disadvantage to paying guests. The room we was allocated had a damp smell & we bought some air fresher from a local shop to deal with this. We informed guest relations and they informed us we wasn’t the first to complain about this, or the other issues raised. Overall we’re genuinely disappointed with our experience 2nd time around and feel when we have paid for a 5* hotel and the hotel doesn’t live up to the cost or expectations anymore. We were glad to leave the resort and even considered getting flights home and few days earlier. Jet2 have been very accommodating to us, so thankfully we booked via them and have been offered compensation. We definitely won’t be returning to the Gran Melia and we wouldn’t recommend it.

Stayed at Gran Melia Palazcio De Isora for a week, and it was excellent. The staff, from the bell boys (shout out Alejandro), the reception staff, the room staff, waiters were superb, and went beyond the call of duty to anticipate, meet and exceed evety request. Starting from breakfast, breahe taking views of the sea from the main hall, the 5 different restaurants were exceptional. The nightly enatirment was varied from Flamenco, R&B, Jazz, local and on every night past midnight. Thereafeter, if you were still up to it, there was a cosy and inimate club where drinks and entertainment continued. We had a Deluxe room on the 5th floor with parial views of the sea to die for. Lot's of execellent an very affordable restaurants just across the raod. We hired a self drive car, and so did a lot of sight seeing drives including Santa Cruz. The roads are amazing. Joined up as a menber of the Gran Melia , and would definetly visit again here or any of their chains
