Anantara Guiyang Resort

The hotel environment was average, and the kids' play area was quite basic. We were assigned a room on the 6th floor which was extremely damp, making our stay very uncomfortable. The hotel later moved us to another room, but the facilities were quite old, and there was a lot of noise from outside the room.

The room came with a large courtyard. With various insects chirping and birds singing, the beauty of nature was truly captivating. Apple, the manager, was incredibly thoughtful and attentive, upgrading my room and showing great care. The hotel itself is like a large garden with beautiful scenery. It's also very convenient, with plenty of restaurants just a 10-minute taxi ride away. I highly recommend staying here!

The hotel grounds are quite spacious, but apart from being large, there isn't much to praise about the garden view; the design is rather ordinary. 1. For a five-star hotel, it feels remarkably stingy. For such an expensive room rate, the mini-bar was completely empty. Honestly, a few cans of Coke or Sprite might not get drunk, but it's the gesture that counts. There weren't even any welcome fruits, something even a basic guesthouse provides. How can a big hotel be so dismissive of these small touches? 2. As a family-focused hotel, it's expected to have many children, but the swimming pool water was so murky it was uninviting. The hotel should consider adult guests more, perhaps by dedicating a separate lane. Plus, the outdoor pool closes quite early. Overall, for adults without children, the pool is practically useless. 3. Our flight was canceled late at night due to a typhoon, forcing us to rebook an earlier flight. We had to leave first thing in the morning. We had breakfast included, so we went to the breakfast area to ask for some food to go. The manager said we could only take simple items like eggs and bread, nothing else. Why? We paid extra for breakfast in our room rate, why are we restricted to just a few items? The restaurant manager then said we could take a little more, but only if we signed an agreement to avoid disputes… and we had to list everything we wanted to take. We were already in a rush, and then they gave us two small boxes, following us the whole time. In the end, just as she said, it was a very small amount. I really don't understand this policy. Many children, who don't even pay for breakfast, waste food by eating half and discarding half, with no one supervising. Yet, paying guests who genuinely need it are treated this way? 4. The buffet dinner was terrible value for money. Apart from some tiny crayfish, there was hardly anything else worth eating! While it's a good family hotel that's kid-friendly, as an adult looking for a relaxing vacation, you'll feel largely overlooked here.

The hotel offers a wide range of activities for families with children. The outdoor pool even provides water guns for kids to play with, which is a thoughtful touch. A special shout-out to Barry from the Concierge team, who provided excellent and attentive follow-up from before check-in to after. The in-room dining was delicious and prompt, with both Chinese and Western options suitable for children.

Nia, the housekeeper, provided excellent service. The hotel has a beautiful environment and offers a wide range of activities.

We were a group of 5 families with kids staying at Anantara, and it was absolutely perfect for a relaxing family vacation. The hotel offers kids' craft activities from morning to night, and there are both outdoor and indoor pools. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings, they even have movie screenings. On our first day, we witnessed the most beautiful sunset. Our butler, APPLE, was incredibly enthusiastic and helpful, always quick to resolve any issues. The hotel's location is also quite central; it's less than 30 minutes to the city and also about 30 minutes to the Longli Oil Painting Grand Prairie, which we visited. We'll definitely choose this place again on our next trip to Guiyang.

The room facilities were relatively old, and the toilet was leaking, which couldn't be fixed. We requested a room change, which they granted. Breakfast was just so-so. We stayed for three days, and on the evening before checkout, seven of us went to the hotel's seafood buffet. The grilled oysters were full of sand, and the roasted lamb was a bit tough. Later that night, two of us experienced severe vomiting and diarrhea. When the hotel called for a satisfaction survey and heard that people were sick, they immediately cut the call short, saying, "Okay, that's it then!" A very poor experience!

To sum it up, the room simply isn't worth the price. 1. The facilities are outdated: the hairdryer plug in the bathroom was broken, and the toilet was malfunctioning. 2. They market themselves as a high-end hotel, but the garden room didn't even have mini-bar drinks. I was told they only provide them for suites. This petty cost-cutting over a few dollars really damages their reputation. 3. The bed sheets had unexplained stains. 4. The power suddenly went out twice at 2 AM, and the room lights automatically turned on. Not only was I startled awake, but I honestly thought I was seeing ghosts! 🤬 5. The breakfast selection was very limited.

Our housekeeper Apple was incredibly attentive and warm. Every day, she'd proactively ask if we needed anything. On our early check-out day, she even prepared breakfast for us and left it at the front desk.
