Holiday Inn Express properties in Haikou

The location is great, right next to the duty-free mall and the new seaport, making it convenient to grab a meal there. We booked two rooms for a one-night stay to catch our ferry the next day. One room was on the 9th floor with a sea view and an outdoor terrace, but the bathroom had a strong foul odor. Parking outside is free. When we checked in, the TV had no signal, and the housekeeping staff on the phone were quite curt, saying they were in the middle of repairs. The breakfast restaurant is a bit small, but the male manager in the suit was incredibly enthusiastic and helpful, clearing tables and even adding extra chicken drumsticks for us!

This is an older Holiday Inn Express, but it offers good value for money. A sea-view room, including breakfast, cost just over 300 RMB. There are several hotels past the main entrance, so you need to turn right to find this one. The overall decor is quite dated. There are plenty of options for takeout food nearby, and the first few floors of the building house a maternity care center. The balcony is quite spacious, but there's no rocking chair or drying rack, possibly due to the strong winds. For breakfast, the noodle station features Hainanese noodles, and the restaurant manager, a lady, is incredibly dedicated to her work, full of energy, and enthusiastically serves guests every day. There's a blue light on the wall by the desk that constantly flashes, which was a bit bright and disruptive to sleep at night.
