Sofitel Haikou

We stayed at this hotel on Chinese New Year's Eve, marking the final stop of our Hainan trip. The hotel is located in downtown Haikou, offering a panoramic view of the harbor from its 35th-floor lobby. Parking is available in the underground garage, but you'll need to switch elevators to get to the lobby. The room package we booked included a '50% off coupon for a double buffet,' which we used for our New Year's Eve dinner, enjoying a lavish buffet spread. On New Year's Day, the hotel even had a lion dance celebration.

The hotel upgraded my room, and the service was excellent. This stay left me with some truly wonderful travel memories. Lying on the sofa watching the sunset was incredible, and the stunning views from the outdoor infinity pool on the upper floor really left a lasting impression. Next time I'm on vacation in Hainan, I'll definitely choose this hotel again.

The hotel boasts a unique design, with a refined and luxurious lobby, and elegant, modern guest rooms. The bathrooms feature a wet and dry separation, with Villeroy & Boch fixtures and Lanvin toiletries. Rooms also come equipped with a Nespresso capsule coffee machine and a De'Longhi kettle. Breakfast offers a wide variety of options. However, the afternoon tea and dinner at the executive lounge were quite basic, just enough to fill you up. It rained throughout our stay, and the room felt a bit chilly, with the duvet being a little thin.

This was my first stay here, and overall, it was a really great experience. The front desk lady was super attentive and welcomed us warmly. The bar upstairs has a fantastic vibe, and it's so convenient that the hotel has robots to deliver food. Plus, the lobby is absolutely beautiful!

The room is stylish and unique, and the view outside the window is stunning! The gym is well-equipped, and the two pools cater to different needs. The only minor drawback is that the hallway carpets and lighting are a bit dim, but perhaps it's a deliberate design choice with a specific concept in mind.

Facilities: Pretty standard, but looked quite new and modern. Cleanliness: Clean and tidy. Environment: Lots of shopping malls nearby, and plenty of late-night food options just a short walk away. The front desk lady recommended the Paotai Night Market which had many great food stalls – the food was delicious! Service: Very enthusiastic. She recommended many old, well-known local eateries that don't even have signs, and gave detailed directions on how to navigate the small alleyways. Saved us a lot of time!
