The Westin Haikou

I spontaneously decided to come to Hainan for a relaxing Qingming holiday, soaking up the sun. The sun was really intense, with daily temperatures consistently above 37 degrees Celsius, and occasionally even hitting 40 degrees. However, coming from a famously hot region, I'm used to high temperatures and found it quite bearable. Plus, with the sea breeze, it was actually quite comfortable! This was my second visit to Haikou. After checking out many hotels online, I finally settled on The Westin. I'd read some reviews saying the hotel's location wasn't great, with limited dining and shopping nearby. Personally, I think the location is actually quite good. It's right by the coast, offering beautiful views of both the river and the sea, as well as the bridge. There are a few decent restaurants near the hotel by Century Bridge, and it's also very close to the Cloudscape Library, just a few hundred meters' walk away. The best part is the scenic walk along the coast, especially beautiful at sunset! One of the hotel's highlights is the executive lounge on the 20th floor, which offers truly stunning views. There's also an outdoor terrace just outside the lounge. Sitting out there with a few drinks and snacks, enjoying the view at sunset, is incredibly relaxing and atmospheric! The executive lounge is generally very good, open from 11 AM to 11 PM. During the day, there are usually soft drinks and a small selection of fruits and biscuits, but from 5 PM to 8 PM during happy hour, they serve light meals. I found The Westin's happy hour to be excellent, with a wide variety of hot dishes, including both Chinese and Western options. The selection of drinks was also extensive, and the food was exquisite, with different offerings each night. This was much better than what I've experienced at other five-star hotels – dinner here was more than sufficient! The hotel's breakfast buffet also deserves high praise. Breakfast is served from 6:30 AM to 11 AM, which is perfect for late sleepers, giving them plenty of time to eat! The breakfast spread was incredibly rich and diverse, with all types of dishes, both Chinese and Western, each with its own character. I highly recommend the rice noodles and wontons – they were outstanding! There was definitely an abundance of fruit and drinks. As it was a holiday, there were many diners during breakfast, but the restaurant never felt chaotic. Tables and cutlery were promptly cleared, and food was refilled quickly – absolutely commendable! This time, I chose the Executive Suite. Unfortunately, I didn't get an upgrade this time. The room itself was great. Although it was a corner unit, the designer made excellent use of the space, creating a very sensible layout. Most importantly, as someone from the south, I appreciate being able to open windows for ventilation, which is much better than staying in high-floor rooms that can't be opened. I heard the best room type is the River and Ocean Suite, with even better views, and I hope to experience it next time! The hotel's bedding was good, toiletries were average, and the customer service was excellent – all my requests were met quickly. The towels were also great, new and soft! A major perk of the executive room is the late check-out until around 4 PM, plus complimentary ironing of two garments daily. I think these benefits are incredibly guest-friendly! The hotel's concierge service was outstanding. Every time we returned to the hotel by car, they would proactively open the door and greet us. A special thanks to Mr. Justin Bao, who provided us with excellent, efficient, and professional service. He not only gave us an overview of the hotel but also advised us on how to get better deals for future bookings – truly grateful to him! I hope to see him again on my next trip to Hainan! I was also delighted that the hotel gifted us a souvenir when we checked out – I absolutely loved it! I will definitely choose to stay at The Westin again on my next visit to Haikou. It's a shame this trip was so short; I look forward to spending a longer holiday here next time, just enjoying the hotel! I hope the hotel continues to improve! Oh, and the hotel is also very close to Qilou Old Street, just about a 10 yuan taxi ride, which is super convenient!

Clean and spacious rooms, delicious breakfast, stunning views nearby, excellent service, and an amazing swimming pool.

The hotel was pretty standard, but the sea view room offered a fantastic view, and the kids really enjoyed playing in the pool. However, the service didn't particularly stand out. It's very close to the famous 'internet-famous' library, just a few minutes' walk away, and you can cycle along the coast within the park.

The hotel environment is clean and tidy, with new facilities and warm, attentive service. The room is spacious and bright, the bedding is comfortable, and they thoughtfully provided amenities for children. The surrounding area is convenient for getting around, with many dining options, and our child had a particularly great time. Overall, it's excellent value for money, quiet, and safe, making it perfect for families with kids. We'll definitely choose this place again for our next trip. Highly recommended!

This time, I booked a sea-view king room here for nearly 900 yuan, which isn't exactly a cheap hotel. I arrived at the hotel around 3 PM, only to be told there was no parking available and no charging stations. I had to walk to a public park parking lot a few hundred meters away. The front desk staff was absolutely clueless, offering only one answer: 'I don't know.' From 3:30 PM, when I checked into the room, there was an event happening on the hotel's pool terrace right outside my window. First, a host was rehearsing with a sound system, and then all evening, I was subjected to their dancing, singing, and hosting. The conference went on until 9 PM, with continuous spotlights shining directly into my room during the event. Were we not supposed to rest in the afternoon and evening? Should we have just stayed out until 9 PM and come back then? I paid several hundred yuan extra for a river-view king room, and I couldn't even open the window? The soundproofing was absolutely terrible. I could hear the doorbell next door, the shower running, and even people talking. I'm speechless. It seems like their events and banquets are the only important things, and hotel guests are just an afterthought, expendable. Is it really so hard for a hotel to provide a basic guarantee of peace and quiet for its guests to sleep? Couldn't such an event be held indoors? I've stayed at many Westins, and generally had a good impression, but I've never experienced one this bad. I didn't want to stay a minute longer; I just woke up and checked out.

I've always had a soft spot for Westin, mainly because I love their White Tea amenities, and the Haikou location certainly didn't disappoint! The hotel's right next to the bridge and the Cloudscape Library, which is super convenient. We even had an amazing view of the bridge's night lights directly from our room!

I brought my parents along for this trip and we booked the Vitality Bund Suite. The hotel upgraded us to the Riverfront Sea View Suite, which offered multi-angle ocean views and the perfect spot to watch the sunrise and sunset – absolutely gorgeous! The executive lounge from 5 PM to 8 PM had a decent selection of food, enough to pass for a buffet dinner. The hotel's photography service was also pretty good, though not as lavish as what you'd find in Sanya. This might be because the hotel primarily caters to business travelers, so it doesn't have a strong 'resort' vibe. A special shout-out to Manager Justin, who provided excellent service and even gave us a small gift when we left.

The front desk lady upgraded me to the presidential suite, which was such a pleasant surprise! The breakfast spread was so abundant that I accidentally ate too much. 😁 The view is also beautiful. The doorman was quite enthusiastic, helping with luggage and introducing the surrounding area, very friendly. The ladies at the front desk were all very kind and had lovely smiles. Next time I go to Hainan, I'll definitely stay at the Westin again!
