Yuyu hakone location is near lake Ashi, budget friendly, however idky onsen makes me feel tired.

This hotel has a very traditional Japanese tatami style, which my dog and I absolutely loved. There's a balcony where you can sit and enjoy the surroundings, and a lovely courtyard as well. The front desk staff are fluent in English, and we even met a Chinese staff member, so communication was super easy. Everyone was incredibly friendly, especially to my dog. I even borrowed a scale to weigh my luggage. You can also book private hot spring sessions, which need to be reserved in advance. The hotel provides bathrobes and even face masks. We enjoyed the hot springs both nights of our stay.

Excellent, absolutely no complaints! The private outdoor onsen was truly delightful :) I can't comment on the food as we didn't eat at the hotel. (Subtle) view of Mount Fuji at the next bend!

Great experience. The staff were lovely and the area is beautiful. Rooms are very homely and comfy. We went into the onsen both nights and it was great. We also got dinner both nights at the hotel and the food was good we were impressed. Overall it felt like a very personal stay and couldn't be happier. For some of the logistics if you are wanting to do the hakone main loop. We recommend coming in from Shinjuku on the romance car, take the montain train up to Gora and then the cable car to Sounzan. We then took a roughly 10min bus from Sounzan to Yuyu. The next morning we then took the same bus back to Sounzan and caught the first 9am ropeway fo start off the loop. We managed to avoid most of the crowds and it was very convenient. Once again couldn't recommend Yuyu enough thank you for the great stay!!

The navigation to the hotel wasn't very accurate, and there were some communication issues when I called. Online, the hotel didn't have a name, but it's actually called 'Yoyo.' If you navigate to 'Yoyo,' it's spot on. The staff here aren't Japanese. The facilities are comprehensive and clean. You can bring pets to the hot springs, but there are time slots. You can't shower in the room, but the room itself is spacious, and you get a direct view of the lake from the window. Overall, I think it's pretty good.

Overall, it was a pleasant experience. LOVE everything they provided, private onsen, yukata, tea, cookies, etc. The only downside is the location. It is on the other side where Hakone Free Pass doesn't cover, so you'll have to take the lion bus which can be expensive, and have to return early otherwise there's no transportation to head back. To use your Hakone Free Pass, you can get is to walk to/from Odaku Ropeway Station, then you'll be connected with all the free pass zone. The walk from Yuyu to tbe station is okay without luggage, but with luggage it can be slightly tough to go uphill.

We loved this place with friendly staffs, room is big. The plus point is the Private outdoor onsen. One really sad thing is the location. Nearby there are no convenient mart, you will need to find out schedule for the public bus to bring you back to the hotel. If you missed the time, you will need to get a Uber. It is not far from the bus terminal but the walking path is an adventure.
