The cleaning was very thorough. The bed, balcony, and bathroom (towels, hot spring, amenities, etc.) were all well-equipped and very nice. Given the nature of Hakone, a car might be more convenient, but it's less than a 10-minute walk from the nearest bus stop and about 15 minutes from Togendai Station, so I think the access is quite good for Hakone.
