Considering the price, I was really impressed with the food and the complimentary daytime drink service. The location was also very convenient.

Our stay at hotel marroad was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helped to arrange for the shuttle service back and to gora station. Hotel views were nice and facing the valley and we appreciated the complementary drinks and snacks.

Very cozy (love the vibes) and rather quiet hotel not just the rooms. Room Only issue is the powerpoint, i cant seem to find any to plug my charging adapter. I had to use the room's extension plug that connects to the table lamp, tv. Has a nice outdoor balcony Cant comment much on hotel staff service and friendliness due to slight language barrier. But overall they are professional. Location is not very convenient, had to walk up a rather steep hill to go back to hotel in the evening. Would suggest to book Uber from Gora station back to hotel, which costs about $10

A nice hotel that is a little distant from the nearest restaurants, shops and attractions. There’s a shuttle bus to the local railway station, which is useful but it stops at 6:00pm so after that you have to walk. It’s not too far but it is very steep. Our room was in need of refurbishment, with a stained carpet and tired fittings. That said it had everything we needed.  The onsen was a welcome facility which was very enjoyable. The ‘free-flow’ beverages from 18:00-20:00 was also a nice touch but we weren’t made aware of it and it would have passed us by if we hadn’t heard it being offered to other guests.  Dinner was very nice but a little odd, in the sense that there was no choice and was French cuisine; it was also quite expensive. Breakfast was average with undercooked bacon, good eggs, a nice yoghurt/compote combination but no preserves to have with the (one small) croissant. Service was very good.

20 min uphill hike from Gora station. Or you can take cable train up hill for two stations and walk on flatland for about 8 minutes to hotel. Hotel has shuttle bus. They dropped us off on the way back. You can possibly call to pick you up at Gora station. Trip.com reservation options show you prices for one adult. It's very hard to book for 3 people to stay in one room to save money. I sent a custom request to the hotel exactly this - 3 people in one room. Trip.com charged me $270 and when I got to the hotel, they said I have to pay $300+ more for 2 more people. That was not clearly communicated to me by either Trip.com or hotel. There's a language and cultural barrier. In Japan, you pay per person - not by rooms. They scan your all passports of everyone staying - not just the person who books. With last minute notice, I had no choice but to pay more as other hotels nearby are filled up and we were very tired from 4 hours train transfers dragging our bags plus 8 minutes walk to the hotel. All in all, if trip.com room selections are not a perfect fit, I can't recommend booking this hotel. Custom messages are not recognized. Communication is lacking. You will get charged last minute without any alternatives left. For $570 a night, we could have a way better hotel in Hakone. The breakfast also wasn't memorable and you have to reserve it ahead of time. I would not come back.

Clean and nice. I’m not a fan of that design, the Onsen is good. Beautiful view.

Hotel room was spacious. Compound was a bit old but overall clean. Onsen was small but still nice to use, with a sauna. Location was okay as long as there is transport, having the shuttle is a nice touch.

The hotel is like an older, established hotel in China; the cabinets are made of composite board, and after years of use, the panels have peeling paint and cracks. So, don't have too high expectations. For breakfast, you need to schedule your breakfast time each day to avoid guests all going at once and overwhelming the chef. Breakfast includes a choice of drinks: apple juice, orange juice, milk, and apple-carrot juice. You also need to choose the cooking method for the eggs. There are two small bread rolls, not enough for a man! Salad and coffee are self-service. The hotel is nearly a kilometer from Gora Station, about a 400-meter uphill slope. Walking empty-handed is strenuous, even for your glutes. Dragging a suitcase would be even more difficult. However, you can take the scenic train to Gora Station, then transfer to the cable car to "Gonjo-gami" station. From there, it's about 500 meters to the hotel, all on flat asphalt, which is much easier. The hotel claims to offer pick-up and drop-off service to Gora Station, but this is practically impossible. Firstly, most people don't know the hotel, and secondly, phone calls are difficult to get through. Getting to Gora Station was no problem; the hotel has two cars, one large and one small, and the gentleman at the front desk just drove us there. The onsen (hot spring) inside is pretty good. There's one indoor pool and one outdoor pool, each about 10 square meters and 2-3 meters square. It's usually not crowded, especially in the morning when it's even less packed.

The accommodations and service were excellent. While the building itself is a little dated in some parts, the hot springs were fantastic. I stayed for several nights, and the drinks and snacks in the lounge were superb.

The hotel is pleasant and clean. Well located next to the funicular for getting to the lake. Good service. Note that there are few shops nearby and they close at 5 pm. The downside: you must decide in advance on your breakfast and dinner times in order to reserve them. Dinner is not possible without a reservation.

The room was renovated, clean, and comfortable. 😍 The hot spring is old, so it's difficult to renovate. That's a bit disappointing. The breakfast was delicious, and the staff were very friendly.

The hotel is quiet and relatively remote. You need to take the cable car from Gora Station to Kami-Gora and then walk for 10 minutes to the hotel. However, after checking in, the hotel provides a free shuttle bus to Gora Station and the mountain cable car station. There is a hot spring and a happy hour drink in the evening.

The room is OK. It is very big. The bed is super soft and comfortable. There is no bathtub in the bathroom. You can take a shower and bath in the large public bath. Get off at Gora Station. If you call, the service staff will drive to pick you up. The service is really good. The disadvantage is that it is a bit far from Gora Station. It is uphill. If you only stay one night in Hakone, this location is not very convenient. There is no food around. There is only one convenience store. I strongly recommend the Hakone Museum of Art!
