I love everything about this hotel: the room for us to overlook  the lake, the breakfast, the dinner, the services, the hot spring pools(especially the open-air one), and so on. What attracts us most is the shop. It sells many good products and is definitely worth visiting. Don’t buy too much in Tokyo or in a big city; come here and enjoy shopping!

The lake-view room offered a fantastic view from the window, with the entire scenery of Luhu Lake right before my eyes. The service was incredibly attentive. Dining options included both Japanese and Western restaurants, primarily offering set menus, though à la carte was also available. The massive fireplace, with its subtle scent of smoke, created a wonderful ambiance.

This is an older hotel in Hakone. It wasn't very crowded on a Sunday. The room was a bit small, but it was a lake view room with a nice view. It included breakfast and dinner. For breakfast, I chose the French set menu, which was delicious. For dinner, I opted for the Japanese set menu, and it was pretty good. The portions were a bit smaller compared to other kaiseki meals I've had, but thankfully there was rice. The hotel's surroundings are lovely. The garden would probably be beautiful when the flowers are in bloom, but right now it perfectly embodies the starkness of winter. There's a free shuttle bus from Moto-Hakone Port. Make sure to check the schedule; the last one in the afternoon is at 5:10 PM. If you miss it, you'll have to walk, but it's not too far. The hotel has hot springs, and it felt like I had the whole place to myself when I went.

Fantastic hotel experience, peaceful and comfortable, with separate male and female hot spring baths. The breakfast was also exquisite. It was a bit rainy during check-in, and the fog made it feel like a fairyland. The bus directly to Odawara from the hotel entrance was very convenient.

Great stay for Hakone visit. Room is specious but a bit outdated. Had the Japanese dinner and Western breakfast. Service provided at both restaurant is good. Managed to see the snow-capped Mount Fuji at the hotel garden. Autumn leaves in the garden are so beautiful.

Managed to get on the last boat ride across Lake Ashi and was there in time for the hotel shuttle pick up. It was pitch dark out around 5pm during Japan's autumn however the hotel lobby is cozy and inviting, one that is full of history. The friendly front desk handed me a key with a large wooden key chain, and I checked out the large room prior to my dinner timing. There's a door to partition the bedroom and toilet/entrance area which felt nice. Dinner was a set menu and one that was filling. There are ice machine dispenser at the male onsen level and female onsen was on the highest floor. There's a lift that brings you to right outside the spa so visitors won't have to walk across the lobby area in their yukatas. Onsen was clean and spacious, there's a shower area to clean up, a sauna, outdoor and indoor onsen. Dressing room area has all the amenities you need and the ice popsicle after onsen is a nice touch. Woke up the next morning to catch the sunrise and caught a nice view of golden rays spewing across Lake Ashi, the garden and the glorious Mount Fuji right from my room. 100% recommended staying at this hotel! Had a super filing Japanese breakfast and checked out to explore the rest of Hakone.

This old-money style villa, nestled on a hillside, boasts a stunning garden with beautifully maintained flowers and plants. Mount Fuji, with its snow-capped peak, stands majestically in view, reflecting a gentle reddish hue from the sunset – an atmosphere of tranquil serenity, untouched by the world. With a limited number of rooms, you won't find bustling crowds, which I loved 🌹. The service was also excellent, gentle and attentive. I'm so grateful they arranged my preferred room and floor. It was a truly wonderful time, filled with gratitude 💕.

Among all the hotels in Hakone, I ultimately chose Odakyu, and I'm so glad I did. I had emailed the hotel in advance to confirm dinner options and times. When I arrived at Moto-Hakone Port at 7:40 PM, I called the hotel, and they had already sent a car to pick me up. Upon giving my name, the front desk already had my room key ready, so I dropped off my luggage and went straight to eat sukiyaki. There's a scheduled shuttle bus to Moto-Hakone Port daily, making it convenient to grab something from 7-Eleven and then take other public transport to explore. A popular attraction is just 300 meters from the hotel, so no need for a car, you can simply walk there. Even though it gets dark early, many tourists still visit at night. The best part is the hotel's stunning private garden; on a clear day, I opened the window and could even see the summit of Mount Fuji from the hotel! The only minor drawback of this older hotel is its facilities, but the room wasn't small, and the onsen was rarely crowded.

This hotel is convenient if you want to see the Heiwadori Torii. I went at 7 AM to take pictures, avoided the crowds, and was back at the hotel for breakfast. Personally, I think the Western restaurant's food is better, both for breakfast and dinner.

Perhaps it's because it was a half-board package, but despite being advertised as a French restaurant, it was at best on par with a budget eatery. The steak in the main course had decent meat quality, but the plating and accompaniments were bizarre – a real mishmash. The dessert plating was pretentious, and the taste was mediocre. The waitstaff all seemed like temporary hires, lacking training. They were flustered and chaotic when serving and introducing dishes, and their movements were clumsy. Their hands even accidentally touched the parts of the cutlery that would come into contact with food. All in all, it was a completely unremarkable French dinner. The French breakfast, while not substantial in quantity, showed a significant improvement in overall service. I'd recommend choosing the French option for breakfast and Japanese for dinner.

Facilities: This old-money style hotel may not have the most modern facilities, but they are very well-maintained and provide a great user experience. Ambiance: Although I didn't catch the peak blooming season, the hotel's garden was fantastic, and I even saw Mount Fuji at sunset – truly excellent views. Dining: The set meal included with the hotel stay was quite exquisite. I chose the Japanese cuisine, which was delicate, simple, and beautiful. Service: The shuttle service to and from Moto-Hakone Port was very convenient, and the service was excellent.

1. This hotel feels like a resort. While strolling through the outdoor gardens, I discovered it was built in 1911 by the Mitsubishi Group. No wonder it has that distinctive 'era' feel of Japan's economic development. The front desk service was incredibly warm and helpful. I wasn't sure if the bottled water and coffee/tea bags in the room would be extra charges, but they patiently and thoroughly answered all my questions over the phone. There's a gift shop right next to the reception area with reasonably priced souvenirs and a great selection – I ended up buying a lot! However, due to its age, some of the equipment is a bit finicky (like the bathroom exhaust fan), but it didn't significantly impact our stay. 2. The onsen (hot spring) was decent, and the washing facilities were very convenient. Since it was my first time, I carefully read the instructions before going, but there were still some things I didn't quite grasp, and I ended up needing help from others in the changing room. I suggest the hotel add to their onsen etiquette comic: 'Please bring your own towel from your hotel room to the onsen changing room, and take it back to your room after use.' (The latter point about taking towels back is mentioned on a separate paper in the wardrobe, but the information is a bit scattered across different notes). 3. Breakfast was also very good, and we were lucky enough to see Mount Fuji! Lucky day! Overall, I highly recommend it! My mom and I had a wonderful stay. It would definitely be even more beautiful during autumn leaves or cherry blossom season, but probably more expensive too, haha~

Location: Compared to a quick trip or city hopping, this place is much better suited for a leisurely vacation of a few days. The hotel offers a shuttle every 20 minutes to Moto-Hakone Port, and there are direct buses to Hakone-Yumoto Station and Shinjuku. For a relaxed journey, convenient transportation is guaranteed. Scenery: Outside the window, the shimmering Lake Ashi with pirate ships passing by, and Mount Fuji occasionally peeking through in the distance from the garden – it's truly beautiful! After a stroll in the garden, you can walk out of the hotel to a path. There's a small hotel pier, and a five-minute walk takes you to the perpetually crowded torii gate. Another ten-minute walk along the lake brings you to Moto-Hakone Port. Plenty of opportunities for walking and peaceful contemplation! In the morning, guests are offered complimentary coffee and tea. You can sit in the café, enjoy the scenery, and find some tranquility. Service and Dining: As a traditional Japanese hotel, the service is impeccable, and the property is meticulously maintained and spotless. The food quality is good, though not astonishing, but the menu is clearly very thoughtfully put together. The hotel's homemade plum wine is absolutely delicious! I really loved the traditional keys!!

The hotel's location offers beautiful scenery; the views of Lake Ashi are different in the morning and during the day. On a clear day, you can even see Mount Fuji from the hotel's courtyard. The hotel is less than a ten-minute walk from the torii gate and shrine, so if you go early to take photos, you can avoid the crowds. Although it's not on the main street, there's a shuttle bus from the hotel to Motohakone Port, departing from platform 6. After 5 PM, you can call the front desk. I called from a phone booth at the 7-Eleven in Motohakone Port, and they immediately sent a car to pick me up. The service was excellent. The only downside is that the room had an older European hotel style, and the air conditioning leaked once overnight when set too low. The Western breakfast was good, and the grilled fish with bamboo shoots in the Japanese breakfast was delicious.
