It is a lodge, so the room is basic and it has a floor heating which is perfect.

The host was nice and helpful. The location was good, close to the bus terminal. The pictures shown on the link are not the same as what we have seen in the hotel. The room was a bit dusty and the hot water was running out in the middle of the shower.

I chose to stay at Alpine Lodge during my skiing trip to Hakuba, and overall, I found it to have both very obvious pros and cons. If you're there primarily for skiing and don't have high expectations for accommodation, it's a viable option. However, if you're looking for a comfortable vacation experience, you might want to reconsider. **Summary:** Alpine Lodge feels more like an upgraded hostel or ski lodge than a traditional hotel. I'm giving it 3.5 stars because its location is truly impeccable, but the facilities definitely need renovation. Recommended for young travelers on a budget who plan to ski all day and just need a bed.

Rooms small but cozy. Shane, Charlotte, Levon were the best thats what made the stay even better. Breakfast everymoring to start our day. Shane gave us great recommendations on things to see when we weren't snowboarding would definitely stay there again. It is not super modern if that is what you are looking for but safe and cozy

Alpine Lodge Hakuba did not meet our expectations. The property is advertised with amenities that do not exist, including a swimming pool, onsen, and bar (the bar is reportedly under construction). None of these facilities were available during our stay. We also experienced several other issues: No lighting or handrails on a dark staircase No room key provided Wood bugs falling from the ceiling The accommodation felt more like a backpacker hostel than a hotel Check-in was advertised as 4:00pm but delayed until 7:00pm Our booked family room was unusable, resulting in us being separated from our children and moved into a smaller upstairs room, with no offer of refund or credit These issues have been raised by other guests previously, so we recommend doing thorough research before booking. While the accommodation is cheaper, it comes with compromises that were not clearly disclosed. Shayne and the staff were friendly, however due to the above issues we would not stay here again, which is reflected in our rating.

The room we booked wasn’t available. We were out in an apartment that was far away from everything. There was no cab service available. The apartment was smelly and old. Obviously the owner had an issue with the neighbours because they pushed all the snow from the whole road in front of our entrance door so that we were not able to leave because we couldn’t open the door. The owner did nothing. Alpine lodge doesn’t have an onsen or breakfast and the owner is terrible. It was the worst experience we ever had. At the end the owner said he would give us a discount and refund some money which never happened!!

We were impressed with Shane and how quick to help he was with anything needed and the rest of the team were really friendly. The included breakfast was a nice touch, if you want it and they are willing to make something you if ask. However, it was not what we were expecting and that’s why the low score from us. The place is listed as having amenities that don’t exist (swimming pool, onsen, bar which is under construction). None of these things exist. The property is very much a work in progress, with things like no lights over a dark staircase, holes in the wall in our room and a leaking toilet. A big thing for us was the fact that we got no room key, we were under the impression that it was more of a hotel than it actually was. Instead it was like a backpackers hostel. If it had been listed as such, we would not have stayed. There was a communal lounge, but as we wanted to spend time just the two of us, we didn’t want to mingle with strangers to get to watch Tv of an evening. The bedroom wasn’t nice to hang out in either, so we went out. Overall, we were disappointed with the stay and the cost for such a basic accommodation that doesn’t match ANY listing on any website. We suggest you check and update the listing to give a more honest and accurate view of what people are paying for in advance. As I’ve said, Shane was lovely, but we felt a bit mislead about what to expect before arriving.

I booked what was falsely advertised as a 5-bed, 1-bath family suite but was given a much smaller 2-bed room. To make things worse, the bathroom door was locked from the inside and completely unusable for our entire stay. I notified the manager, Shane immediately, and while he promised to fix it that day, it was never addressed. We had no access to a toilet, sink, or shower—something essential, especially during a snowboarding trip. When I brought it up again, he apologized but said he was too busy. On top of all that, the room was freezing at night he said they have floor heating, which barely works. I expected much more for $294 a night and would have appreciated even a partial refund. Very disappointing experience.

Theer was only 1 person running Alpine Lodge for 30 guests, so room was not ready for check-in until 6.30pm, and the host was unreliable for promised pick-up and drop offs, so we had to pay for taxi's both ways. Property generally old and run down, and needs some significant maintenance, cleaning and clearing of clutter.
