The beach at the hotel is too wavy to swim and can only bask in the sun. But not far away, there is another public beach more than 100 meters, where you can swim. There are many choices for buffet breakfast and dinner, and the taste is good. Of course, there are occasional mistakes, such as grilled too raw beef shoulder. There are very few things for children to entertain. There is a game room where you can draw, watch TV, play games, etc., but the maintenance is not very good. The service is generally good, ushered in. However, there are more ingredients for the show, and some details need attention. Overall, the price / performance ratio is average, and it should be done.
On Sri Lanka's sun-baked south coast near the fishing town of Tangalle, Amanwella lies amid 37 acres of coconut trees next to a perfect crescent of golden sand. Combining modernist lines and indigenous materials, the suites are inspired by the work of famed Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa. Flooded with light, they each open on two sides to private plunge pools and large terraces overlooking the Indian Ocean. Away from the palm-shaded private beach club and the 47-metre pool, the area's diverse attractions - including tea plantations, treks and temple visits - capture Sri Lanka at its most authentic. Massages and body treatments using all-natural products are available at the Spa. The Restaurant and Beach Club specialise in locally-caught seafood as well as vibrant Sri Lankan curry dishes.

Reception: The entry was marked with a ceremonial greeting/local prayer from the staff who were courteous enough to show us through the grounds for amenity placement etc. Check in was seamless along with a tour of the place. Lahiru our butler in charge drove us to our villa along with contact information. Stay The entire time we were there (4 nights), it felt as though we were the only two people on the compound. Moments on the premise there was ever a kind face greeting or passing by. The Beach club area was such a treat with life guards ever keeping a keen eye all across the area to ensure full coverage in the event of a forceful current/wave. The Spa also had to get a visit from us as we neared the end of our trip. Both masseuse were on point and had us rejuvenated for the remainder f our stay. Meals The Meals were, to say the least outstanding at every juncture. The turnaround time is about half an hour which for a place of close to 40 villas - was really fast. The service was impeccable - both the set ups as well as the ambience set up. The server in charge of our villa Kasun was ever attentive and went an extra mile to see to it that my wife and I received top caliber treatment along with bursts of surprises to spruce up the romance. Hospitality Room service as well as turn down service was impeccable. The team went an extra mile to ensure we had all the amenities we needed - guest appreciation, sorting our laundry half way through our short stay, turn down service (which I felt was too good that they almost force it on you since they want all guests to leave with a touch of it). Exit The checkout process was easy - allowing for an extension into the late afternoon to accommodate our airport trip and flight times. We had the ceremonial Aman au revoir where the General Manager Sonam and his Assistant GM Prem were present. Outstanding stay all around. Special thanks to the first and foremost, Kasun for making the impossible happen and above all, the Assistant Manager, Mr Prem Chundawat who was ever so available, went out of his away to ensure we were well catered for as well as taking on some near and far requests last minute. We cannot wait to incorporate the Aman brand and experience to our travels in the near future.

We had the hotel basically just for us (there was just 1 other guest that left the next mornign). Unfortunately the pandemic hit hard in Sri Lanka which resulted in many hotels closing for 2 years. When we arrived it looked like they were not even expecting us, and we had to wait for the room to be prepared. Nevertheless, they quickly called reinforces and prepared everything for our stay. The hotel is very isolated, which is great to relax. The beach is just unbelievably calm, relaxing and stunning. You can be swimming while seeing monkeys in the palm trees, and without seeing any other tourist for hours and hours (contrary to Unawatuna and Mirissa areas). The dinner was delicious and carefully prepared. The staff is also lovely, and we could see they are doing their best to start recovering the business. The only reasons I can't give 5 stars to this are: the clear lack of maintenance in the hotel (many parts need an urgent fix and restructure) and also, they just changed the bed sheets of one of our beds while preparing the room. When I went to sleep in the single bed, I realized it was all dirty, with dozens of small dead bugs (inside and outside of the bed/sheets) and mold. However, we called the man in service that night, and he quickly changed the bed sheets. You have EVERYTHING it takes to become a 5* place, just PLEASE do some maintenance and be more careful with hygiene. I believe this was due to the fact they were closed for 2 years, and didn't had costumers since the reopening in that room. But everything else is fantastic.

AAyuzzzzzzThe hotel is relatively new, but it is a bit far from Yala National Park, but I think it is still worth staying for two more nights! This is a hotel that has received unanimous praise on our trip. The environment is very good. My friend did not go to Safari, so he had breakfast in the restaurant and said that the environment of the restaurant was very good and the food was delicious! I think it is still very worthwhile, and it is not very expensive, and the cost performance is very high! The swimming pool is very beautiful to watch the stars at night. I was hungry at 10 o'clock in the evening and ordered a midnight snack on the rooftop. I was the only one there, and they also served very attentive. In short, I strongly recommend this hotel, it's really good~
NNessitaLovely place with an amazing view. The lady who received me was so sweet and nice. They made me dinner and breakfast and it was all delicious. Very clean place and attentive staff. I would recommend! I also loved that they have water dispenser to fill my tumbler so I did not need to buy plastic bottled water. This I really appreciate. No complaints, great place and wish them the best.
__cb5527428911503817The hotel is beautifully landscaped and integrated with the golf course. Although the beach sand is fine, it is brown, which seems not very suitable for play. The hotel has a lot of entertainment items, including small water park, swimming pool, billiards, table tennis, yoga, etc .; hotel rooms, lobby, BBQ, etc. are very beautiful. The only disadvantage is that the outside of the hotel is relatively barren. There are no other restaurants and restaurants.
JJIANZHONGHotel service is good, breakfast is good, ordering is not bad, live on the second floor with balcony, swimming pool in front of the building, very quiet, the birds in the night are very loud, go to Safari alone, you will be a chartered car, inform the hotel in advance to pack breakfast The cost of renting a car to other places is relatively high. The location is not on the street, it takes about 5 kilometers to walk to the lake. The overall is very good, very casual!
We were a group of 4 and booked the deluxe double rooms. We checked in at night after an entire day of sightseeing. The staff checked us in but gave us shabby deluxe triple rooms at the far end of the resort, without any prior intimation. We spent an hour discussing with the staff and agent and only much later the staff apologised and we were given deluxe double rooms, facing the pool and field ahead. The night didn't end here - while changing rooms, their room key broke inside the door! And there was further delay. With a 5.30 am safari meetup time, we barely had any sleep and had opted for the packed vegetarian breakfast as we were vegetarians. However, 2 out of 4 boxes had eggs and chicken sausages! The kettle plug also kept sparking and we required a change. While the upkeep can be improved, what really requires work is hospitality.
GGuest UserThe hotel is not that simple to get to. Once you leave a nice hard top road, you have to drive down a long dirt road for about 10 mins to get to the hotel itself. That road can become a bit flooded if it rains hard - as it did on one day we were there - and that can prevent some guests getting in and out of the hotel. We’d had a lovely quiet evening meal one night and only found out afterwards that there had been a large group due in but couldn’t get down the road. Generally, it’s ‘normal’ vehicles and buses that bring people but, on occasion, a 4x4 would be better. On the days we arrived and left the roads were passable but you could see how they become easily impassable with rivulets running across it. The hotel though is lovely. The old one was washed away in the tsunami but the replacement looks strongly built, with its exposed concrete and stone construction there for all to see. That doesn’t make it cold and like a factory though. Far from it. It feels like it belongs where it is and its appropriate for a climate that varied between sun, wind and heavy rain whilst we were there. Whilst there are bedrooms on the ground floor (plus the gym and spa), most of the hotel’s common spaces are on the top floor, where reception, the bar and a la carte restaurant are. The main restaurant is one floor down, which has a nice view from the verandas around the outside. We had drinks in the bar on a couple of evenings, choosing to sit on the covered balcony as the indoor space - complete with pool table - whilst lovely was rather cold. The cocktails we had were really well made and come with our recommendation. We didn’t try the a la carte restaurant. Frankly, there was no need to from a food perspective. It was excellent all the time in the main one. The hotel tends to get large groups stay, who like to sit together (and create quite a noise), so the main restaurant can get quite noisy. The a la carte would offer a break from that as it’s in its own, quiet space. We genuinely couldn’t fault the food at the hotel. Breakfast always had a large choice ranging from cold offerings, cereal and salad, through to traditional Sri Lankan and hot western options. Tea and coffee was to order whilst you helped yourself to juice. The story was similar for evening meals too. If anything, evening meals catered less for western palettes and more for the Chinese guests that frequent the hotel. There were always lots of local Sri Lankan dishes too, which were simply delicious. All the hot food was outside the main restaurant space, under cover, with much of it being cooked in front of you. The cold starters and desserts were indoors. I have to say, one odd highlight was the soups. Every night there were 2 soups on offer and they were really good. I did have a tiny bug bear sometimes, which correlated with the busiest nights. That was the staff were a little too keen to clear plates. On occasion, you’d literally be chewing still and hadn’t quite put your cutlery dow
GGuest UserVery close to Lake Thieu, the room is about 30 square meters, consistent with the picture, wild hotel, furniture facilities do not have too high expectations, there is a small creature inside is normal and acceptable. Someone helped carry luggage to the room when staying at the hotel. The dinner was very rich, the meal was included in the reservation, which was better than the restaurant we had eaten a few days ago, and the price was super high. Service in the meal is also good. Because the next day I had to get up early to go to Yarra Park, the hotel's packed breakfast was also very rich.
ЗЗеThe hotel is located in a great location, close to Yalla Park. Our room had a beautiful view of the lake. Many thanks to the manager who helped us organize our safari. I want to point out the strange behavior of the ladies at the reception. Not customer-oriented.
GGuest UserMy original plan of a 1-night stay turned into 3 nights purely based on the property and the team. The rooms are spacious and well appointed, with clean linen and towels. The wooden floors are a nice look and feel. The air-conditioning works very well. An unbelievable amount of space for work / lounging. The room itself has a work desk which is perfect for remote work. The balcony is small but functional, and overlooks the majestic Tissa Lake. Spacious terraces on the 1st and 2nd levels as well as a rooftop with spectacular views of the surrounding fields and the lake. I got plenty of work done and attended web-based meetings in peace, against an amazing backdrop. At the end of the day it is the people that make a difference, and this is where Yasith and his team were exemplary. From his kind, attentive service to the care he displays to guests and the property (and of course by the way he treats Kalu, the adorable orphaned puppy), Yasith leads from the front. I noted among other things his meticulous bookkeeping skills, which is a rare find for any property. Suffice to say I have found my stay whenever I return to Tissa. What better place for a morning/evening stroll than the bank of Tissa lake. For any reasonable person willing to stay at a 3-star hotel and not expect 5-star amenities, Serene Park Hotel by Ark has all the right things in place. Full disclosure, I did not have any meals at the premises; as I am very familiar with Tissa I enjoy the many local options available nearby.
GGuest UserFantastic Yala Safari and great little hotel! We had a great time staying here - and went on a great Jeep safari with Pasanna organised through the hotel. The whole family (2 teenage boys) were totally enthralled by the safari and would totally recommend Pasanna! We went on the full day safari (starting at 430am … totally worth the early start to be the first in the park!!) - which allowed a full day of immersion and a slightly more relaxed pace. (The half day safaris seemed much less relaxed…). Pasanna the driver/ guide has over 13 years experience in the park, had great 4wd drive skills, clearly knew all of the possible routes in the park - and was passionate about showing us all that was possible in the park! He was excellent at spotting hard to see animals! Note that all jeeps have to have 12-2 as rest time in the park …. We easily passed it having lunch and reading books- when the jeeps are not allowed to drive around) . We managed to see a great selection of animals including 2 leopards (which I hear is very rare), multiple families of elephants with their babies which we were able to watch for an extended period of time, water buffalo, deer, samba deer, mongoose, jackals, monkeys, peacocks, lots of amazing birds, crocodiles, monitors and bats. It truly felt like the jungle book. We got home tired, but truly satisfied with the experience! Definitely felt like it was value for money.
