Wenxie Hotel

This is by far the worst hotel I've ever booked, no question. The decor is old and basic, and it's certainly not clean. When I checked in, there was a strange smell in the bathroom. Upon closer inspection, the floor drain was an open black hole, without a cover. The air conditioner compressor rattled loudly when it was running, but I just put up with it. After a tiring day out, I was looking forward to a relaxing lie-in the next morning, but around 8 AM, I was woken up by the sound of an electric drill. I was fed up and decided to call the front desk, but there was no phone in the room! I had to call the hotel number listed on Trip.com from my mobile to reach customer service. After understanding the situation, customer service informed me that it was the restaurant downstairs undergoing renovations and there was nothing they could do. When I asked why there was no phone in the room, and if there wasn't one, why was there a sticker on the nightstand instructing me to call the landline? They replied that it was the owner's decision and the front desk couldn't do anything about it either. Oh, and they don't provide bottled water. If you want some, you have to go to the front desk, and you can only get a maximum of two bottles per day.

Considering the price, the environment was pretty much as expected. 1. The hotel doesn't provide complimentary water, and there's no elevator. There aren't many rooms, but the third floor has a balcony where you can dry clothes. 2. It's close to the road, but surprisingly not noisy. 3. The room had a faint musty smell, and there was some dust in the toilet corners that wasn't cleaned properly. The shower stall was quite small, making it inconvenient to shower.

It's very close to the subway station and Zhejiang University. Shopping and dining options nearby are also very convenient. There's parking available right in front. The rooftop terrace is great for drying clothes. Overall, it offers good value for money.

Very close to West Lake, with convenient and fast transportation nearby. The subway is only 200 meters away. It's quite affordable and offers good value for money. Every time I come to Hangzhou, I stay here for a few days, mainly because of the convenience.

The hotel has two buildings. I was assigned a room on the 4th floor of Building A. The 4th floor has a large terrace where you can dry clothes. I booked a twin room with two 1.2-meter beds. The window faced the road, but the double-glazed windows kept it completely quiet. Across the road, there's a wall belonging to Zhejiang University. The room was clean and tidy, well-equipped, with no strange odors or mosquitoes. The air conditioning worked well and was quiet. I stayed for 3 nights and slept very well, though the mattress was a bit too soft. The quilt and pillows were thick and comfortable. Transportation is super convenient. It's less than a 5-minute walk from the D exit of Huanglong Sports Center metro station. Getting anywhere is very easy. Hangzhou is a beautiful city, but it's just too hot. I really don't recommend visiting with children during the summer vacation.
