Wyndham Grand Plaza Royale Hangzhou

My stay here exceeded expectations. The hotel facilities are excellent, and the service is top-notch. The buffet at the Western restaurant on the second floor offered fresh ingredients and a wide variety of cakes; the freshly grilled lamb chops were a delightful surprise. A special thanks to Aylin for her patient, meticulous, and warm service. The lobby bar on the first floor has a beautiful environment, surrounded by lush greenery, making it a very comfortable spot to relax. Overall, it was a fantastic experience.

Overall, the room was quite satisfactory. I booked it for my parents, and I was a bit worried at first, but it wasn't bad at all, just average. There were some highlights; the bed in the room gets a thumbs up. Even though it was a king-size, two people could turn over without disturbing each other. The only minor inconvenience was that the power outlets were only on one side of the bed. We could see West Lake from the balcony, which was a nice view. Both breakfast and the buffet were plentiful, and my parents were very happy with them.

The hotel perfectly blends tradition with modernity, offering a comfortable stay and good service. Our executive room came with a bathtub and a coffee machine. A special shout-out to Chen Hong from housekeeping for her warm and thoughtful service – truly commendable!

The room was pretty much as pictured, and basic hygiene was maintained. However, the hardware is outdated as the renovation was done a decade ago, so don't expect too much in terms of modern facilities. The service, though, was excellent – they were basically ready to accommodate any request, maintaining the standard of an old-school five-star hotel. Staff members would greet you whenever you encountered them. My package also included the dinner buffet, which was also up to five-star buffet standards. A special thanks to Aylin from the Western restaurant; she was very enthusiastic and helpful.

The hotel boasts an excellent location, just across the road from West Lake, and Hangzhou No. 14 Middle School is right to its north. Breakfast was plentiful, and both the lobby and rooms were clean and tidy. The complimentary coffee, however, was quite mediocre.

Location: About a 5-minute walk to Duanqiao (Broken Bridge), taking the exit opposite the revolving door in the lobby makes it even closer. It's super convenient for exploring West Lake. This is the absolute main highlight!!! The coffee shop in the lobby on the first floor is beautifully decorated with lots of greenery. Room: We had a twin mountain view room with a balcony, overlooking Baoshi Mountain. The room, bathroom, and balcony were all very spacious. Facilities: Quite old and worn. Even the toilet seat was faded and mottled. The wardrobe was inside the bathroom, which was a bit unusual. The TV size and distance from the bed weren't ideal; it was a bit of a strain to watch TV while relaxing in bed. Cleanliness: Generally well-maintained. Breakfast: A wide variety of options, with an excellent selection of fruits. The freshly made noodles were the best.

My short trip to Hangzhou included a stay at the Wyndham Grand Plaza Royale Hangzhou, and the overall experience exceeded my expectations. Here's my honest feedback. The hotel location is great, not far from Wulin Night Market, and convenient for self-driving with easy parking, making getting in and out hassle-free. The overall environment is pleasant. The room was spotlessly clean and spacious, with a mattress that was just the right firmness, ensuring a very restful sleep. The bathroom had a good wet/dry separation, and the toiletries felt good to use. The window offered an expansive view of West Lake (from a lake view room). The staff were polite, check-in and check-out were efficient, and issues were addressed promptly after being reported. The service was practical and not overly formal, with no flashy marketing gimmicks, just a genuine holiday experience. It’s perfect for both relaxing and exploring the surroundings, offering good overall value for money. This hotel is definitely worth considering for a trip to Hangzhou.

This is the worst hotel I've stayed in for years. The room's decor is 'retro,' but to me, it just looks run-down. In the 1.2-meter twin room, the mattress underneath wasn't flat, causing the whole bed to tilt from side to side when one adult and one child slept in it. Because of the dilapidated state, the two twin beds couldn't be pushed together, making it completely unsuitable for families with children. I don't understand the point of having outdated facilities like a bathtub that takes up space and is unhygienic. What angered me most was that the water in the second room had already been opened. The housekeeping was absolutely terrible! Finally, I want to mention that the slow charging station downstairs charges 1.8 yuan per kWh, and that doesn't even include a service fee!!! I must have been crazy to book this hotel!

Upon checking in, I noticed that the Wyndham front desk staff were actually drinking water from Atour (a competing hotel chain). After getting to my room, I found the toilet was yellowed, and the pillows had a faint but strong smell of head grease. I switched rooms, but the situation was the same, so I had to switch again. Although the smell in the third room was slightly better, it was still present. Given how late it was, I couldn't be bothered to switch again and just made do. The next morning, while at the buffet, I went to get some food. When I came back, I found my seat had already been cleared and given to other guests – even though I wasn't finished eating. When I asked why, the response was a dismissive, "There are too many people; please just find another seat." The whole experience was incredibly frustrating.
