I was in such a rush with the little one that I didn't get any room photos, so here's a picture of the hotel scenery to prove I stayed.
First off, the location is absolutely fantastic, right on Yanggong Causeway, next to the Four Seasons, which goes for 6k+ a night. I think this hotel offers great value for money. When I got my room card, they also provided a small map of local attractions and a photo shoot voucher, which I didn't use, but I appreciate the gesture.
Secondly, every staff member we encountered was incredibly polite and patient. We had two adults and a baby, so we needed a bed combined and a bed rail. They set everything up perfectly, and when there was a gap between the two beds they combined, they even used a sheet to fill it, which worked out well. Just a heads-up though, the bed rail isn't as sturdy as what you might have at home, so parents still need to be careful. They also accommodated my request to have our room connected to my mom's. The cleaning lady, seeing us hang our baby's clothes on a portable drying rack, even asked if we wanted her to take them outside to dry. She's from Anhui, I didn't catch her name. On the first day, she did a small tidying-up service before bed and gave us a small keychain as a gift. It wasn't anything valuable, but it felt very thoughtful. Every time they saw the baby, they'd give her a small gift – again, not expensive, but very sweet. It's a very kid-friendly hotel. Oh, and on the night we checked in, I saw staff members going from door to door asking if guests wanted a small tidying-up service before bed. It's truly considerate, but I also felt they worked very hard. While I haven't stayed in many hotels, I've never encountered such service before.
Finally, though the room isn't huge, it has everything you need. I had read that they don't actively provide disposable toiletries like toothbrushes and toothpaste, so I brought my own, but it turned out they provided everything: toothbrushes, toothpaste, shower caps, slippers, shampoo, shower gel, conditioner, and hand soap. Parents with small children should note that they also provide stationery, and there's a large desk which is great for homework.
For breakfast, the area isn't large, but it's good enough to fill you up. I particularly loved the freshly made mini wontons. The environment is truly exceptional, with a pond nearby full of cute little fish. You can buy fish food at the restaurant, and when the cherry blossoms fall, it's absolutely beautiful. The staff during busy periods truly work hard; as someone who also works hard, I deeply empathize. Oh, and the restaurant also provides baby cutlery; I even saw bibs, which as a mom, I have to praise!
One small suggestion: we turned on the air conditioning when we arrived, but it kept getting hotter. We thought it was broken and called the front desk. The staff told us the temperature is uniformly set in the low 20s Celsius, so it might actually be cooler with the AC off. Everyone should be aware of this. We did open the window to sleep later, and it was indeed quite comfortable.
The hotel's decor is beautiful, and you can enjoy walking around and exploring.
In short, I would recommend this hotel to other friends visiting West Lake and would stay here again in the future. I might want to try the 'Daylight Cabin' or a family room next time.
