Hanoi Central Pod

This hostel is conveniently located near Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi, making it super easy to find places to eat and drink. There are tons of popular cafes and restaurants nearby, and the area has a charming, town-like streetscape with lots of tourists. Getting here from the airport is a breeze: just take bus 86 and then it's a 5-10 minute walk. The hostel staff speak English, and you get a key to lock up your luggage. The only downsides are that the bedsheets are a bit pilled, so if that bothers you, consider bringing a disposable sheet. There's a Miniso nearby where you can grab essentials, and prices are similar to back home. The room door lock is a bit flimsy and makes a really loud noise when closing, so earplugs might be a good idea if you're a light sleeper, though the room itself is spacious. The bathroom situation is a shared one for two rooms, with two toilets and two showers. Free breakfast is served on the top floor, with fruit, bread, and ham – pretty decent, I just forgot to snap a photo!

The guy at the service desk was really nice, but the woman seemed quite impatient. The bed sheets were pilling, and while the closet was big, sleeping on the top bunk wasn't ideal. There are lots of places to eat nearby, but you have to look for them. Some places try to rip off foreigners, so the really good food is usually found down the alleyways, not on the main streets.

The location is fantastic, making it super convenient for sightseeing and public transport. The hotel itself is clean and tidy, with a cozy and comfortable vibe in the common areas. All the facilities are well-maintained and fully equipped. The owner and staff are incredibly warm and friendly, creating a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. It offers incredible value for money and is definitely my top choice for short trips. Plus, they even have breakfast! A true value-for-money champion!
