Happier-at-home
We had a great stay, nice not-too-scented room, good-enough breakfast, all-around excellent and we were happy. My impression from reading reviews is that most hotels in the area have troubling problems, so picked this one and it lived up to its lack of bad reviews. Except, the first night, after listening to a parade of thumps and bumps and -- what, I can't even describe -- we moved our room. I hate moving rooms but it really was a lot. The desk clerk said it was water pipe noise, which I guess is possible, but not very believable. It seemed like a known issue. She gave us a bigger room, and it was quiet until Sunday night, when the same noises started up. But it wasn't as bad, and really, we were happy. I hope they can figure out how to fix whatever's going on, though. The breakfast was a typical Hampton-Inn-type breakfast, eggs and sausages or patties, not great but fine. Our first morning there were fried potatoes at breakfast, but not the rest of the stay -- maybe it was just on weekdays, which I could've tested but skipped the breakfast on the last morning. Unlike the Staybridge we stayed at in Lansing Michigan, they did NOT scent their linens, or hardly at all, which I appreciate. I hope to never fly into Houston again, but if we do we'd definitely stay here again and can recommend it.
