Hathersage is a lovely place surrounded by glorious walking countryside - and the YHA is a perfect place to stay for small groups - or in my case - as an individual, with a private room. Admittedly my private room had 3 bunk beds, which felt a bit strange, but did give me plenty of room to spread my stuff out. I also had my own washbasin and there were loos and (excellent) showers down the corridor. Only drawback was getting woken in the night by the train going past! YHA staff were lovely and cooked a great full English, actually too much for me so I opted for the continental version which was more than adequate for a days walking. There is a spacious member’s kitchen although I only used it to boil a kettle, plus a comfy lounge. There is also a capacious drying room which came in very handy - something you often miss in the smarter hotels & B&Bs. Hathersage has excellent pubs and also several outdoor shops so everything you need to enjoy the glorious countryside.
