We had an unexpected stay, en-route to our holiday cottage. Landlord/owner was extremely friendly when booking. We arrived and Ben, was extremely hospitable, nothing was too much trouble.. we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, room was so big and comfortable. Breakfast was a treat . Definitely will come back, totally recommend, Colin and Amanda Lawrence x

A very poor plate of risotto and a drink ended up costing me £78.15. I parked my car, approached the bar and the barman asked me if I was parked in the carpark. I confirmed this and he entered the details on the tablet behind the bar. I then received a Parking Charge Notice for £100 from a company in Worthing. I appealed the charge, explained what had happened and attached a copy of my credit card receipt for the meal. My appeal was rejected as 'Your vehicle was not parked in accordance with the terms and conditions on site, and you have not provided sufficient evidence to show otherwise. At the time the vehicle was parked on site it was not pre-authorised to do so as the vehicle wasn't registered on the E-Permit system. We acknowledge the contents of your appeal however this does not exempt you from the terms and conditions, we have investigated the allow list and there is no entry for your vehicle registration number therefore the vehicle was not authorised to park.' The staff at the George inform me that 'there is nothing more they can do.'

We arrived at George Hotel car park Friday night at 20.45 looking for evening meal , unfortunately food had stopped at 20.00 but we stayed for 1 drink each which was 1 1/2 pints of Guinness served to us by Ben. We leave car park at 21.05 We now have parking fine of £100 to pay for being customers for 20 minutes of which landlord said was ok BUT car park monitoring company has said wrongly informed it's 15 minutes But surely the landlord knows because Pub owns car park? On speaking to the landlord who owns the car park said it's our own fault for not reading the signs around his premises telling customers to notify bar staff of your registration number to be entered into ANPR system. Okay it's pitch black in car park and it's empty as was the pub , we where visiting area so not local but have used pub on many occasions in the past when camping.

We go to the George every week and find it a very nice pub to spend our evening in. The quiz night is so much fun, the food and drinks on offer are great and the staff are absolutely fantastic! Owners, and staff are cery polite and helpful, they go above and beyond for their customers and have a great relationship with their locals. We love the George

Would advise you to stay well away from this place. We asked for wine. The girl serving said she had no clean wine glasses but could get some clean ones if we'd wait awhile..which we did. As we sat waiting, the same waitress said exactly the same to others asking for wine..'no clean wine glasses.' Later, I asked her why she didn't wash a few glasses (since there were few people in the premises). The 'boss' then appeared and told me he had instructed his staff to say there were no clean glasses and that, anyway, few people asked for wine. I said it gave a bad impression to say there were no clean glasses and said why not wash a few in preparation .He responded saying that's the way things are. I said 'why not buy more glasses.' 'Too expensive to buy,' he said. I later overheard him saying he was off to New York for a few days and then off to Puerto Rico and then off to Spain for 6 weeks. This so called 'manager' should be taken to task...he is a disgrace. Never go back there again.

I only went to the pub for lunch, but the food and service was absolutely awful! The food was evidently microwaved due to the quick service and some of the potatoes on the plate still being cold inside but mushy! I ordered the pork belly and it was some of the toughest pork I have ever eaten, as well as being burnt, I hate to think how many times it had been reheated. No one there actually cares, no one checked to see if the food was ok. Overall and incredibly horrible experience.

I brought my auntie for lunch. We hadn't booked as she is 96 and not in the best of health. Ben was wonderful. He treated her beautifully, which made her day, and made me so happy to see her smile. Suggesting a smaller portion was perfect too. Thank you so much ☺️
