Hotel Morris Sydney - Handwritten Collection Reviews

Our first night in Sydney was Chinese New Year's Eve, and we chose to stay here because it's very close to Chinatown. The hotel entrance is small, and from the outside, it looked like a bar. When we went in, we realized the ground floor is both the lobby, restaurant, and bar. There was no Chinese-speaking staff available during check-in. They required a 1 AUD credit card pre-authorization as a deposit. There's a large supermarket nearby where a big bottle of mineral water costs only 80 cents. The room provides a complimentary glass bottle of water, but I noticed the cap wasn't very clean so I didn't drink it. The room was tiny, and the hallway ceilings were quite low, making it feel a bit cramped. It was fine for a single night as a temporary stopover. Breakfast was a set menu, not a buffet. Chinatown was very lively during the Chinese New Year period, with long queues at all the restaurants.

Great location in Thai Town, a lot of Thai food for who beloved Thai Taste then would recommend to stay here. Walking distance to shopping area and Tram. Nice room design, good breakfast. Reception is at the Bar but limited Hotel Staff - still good service. Staff in the morning shift was good and the Reception who was check-in very helpful. Only, one lady, nice shift who’s wear black jacket on day of 1Feb’26 was not friendly with Asian Guests. Tone of voice during conversions feel aggressive.

I booked this hotel last minute for my mom, as she decided to join our trip during the Christmas and New Year period, where our hotel that we are stayed already fully booked. I found this boutique hotel online, and since it was new and looked nice, I decided to give it a try & booked for my mom (this hotel Just 3mins away (walk) from our hotel). The location is good, and overall cleanliness was excellent. The room, hotel areas, and walkways were all clean, well maintained, and pleasant. However, we did experience an issue with the air conditioning. On the second night, the AC was not functioning at all—no airflow and very humid, which made it uncomfortable, especially during summer. We contacted reception but were told the AC system was centralized and nothing could be done at the time. The AC started working again in the afternoon. Unfortunately, the same issue happened again on the third night. My mom called reception and was only provided with a fan, which still did not help much due to the heat. The next morning, I personally spoke to the person in charge regarding the AC issue and requested either a room change or a refund so we could move to another hotel. To their credit, the management handled the situation well and arranged for my mom to be moved to another room on Level 3. From that point onward, the AC worked perfectly until check-out. Overall, the hotel is clean, well located, and has good potential. While the AC issue was frustrating, the management’s willingness to resolve the problem and provide a room change was appreciated. With better consistency in facilities, this would be a great place to stay.

The staff was nice but I think they’re a bit understaffed, and the receptionist was doing check ins while making a drink for the bar at the same time, so wait time was long. The room was a bit dusty, but overall the stay was decent.

Great place in Central Sydney. Perfect location to explore the city. Not far from the airport. Very convenient.

For this price, the small size is really unavoidable, and it was a weekend, which made it even worse. Everything else was fine though, quite unique.

Great location! Perfect for a short business trip, with easy access to everything. Plus, there are tons of dining options nearby, whether you're craving Chinese or Western food. Very good.

Lovely stay Had a great stay at morris Hotel. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the location was very convenient. Everything was easy and well organised, making for a relaxing experience. Would happily stay here again and recommend it to others.

Everything else was great, but the staff mistakenly confirmed the wrong order, which led to an overcharge. Thankfully, I got a refund in the end. Thanks to Trip.com for the help!

I booked one of the larger rooms, so it was very spacious. The breakfast was absolutely fantastic! You can order whatever you like, and it's all made fresh. Walking from the subway station saves money, and it's not too far.

A small hotel, so I cannot expect much of the hotel facilities, but it has a great location, making it very convenient to access many places.

Room was slightly small but aesthetically nice. Bed was comfy. Breakfast was great. Location was great. No table for working. Staff was friendly and professional. Check in desk was at a bar which is quite unique. There’s a lot of food and a shopping mall around the area.
