Heidelberg Marriott Hotel

This is a very old five-star hotel, so if you mind outdated facilities, do not stay here. It's about 3 kilometers from the Old Town attractions, closer to a residential area. Although I couldn't earn elite night credits, my room was upgraded based on my member status. The video shows the balcony view – which was very nice.

The hotel room was quite old and not very spacious. With two people and two large suitcases, it felt a bit cramped. The cleanliness was acceptable. The Heidelberg Marriott Hotel also has its own parking lot, which was convenient. We drove to nearby attractions, and that worked out well too.

The hotel is still very comfortable, even if it's a bit dated: The carpets in the hallways and rooms, along with the old bathtub in the wet room, aren't exactly modern anymore, but tolerable. A fridge would also be nice... However, the breakfast buffet is brilliant and leaves nothing to be desired! In summer, you can even sit outside with a view of the Neckar river. But the check-out process is a disaster. We had a huge line in front of us at the reception. - Nothing against lengthy consultations for tourists, but when you need to catch your train on time and there's a large crowd waiting, it's unacceptable. Perhaps an "express check-out counter" could be set up, which could also handle check-ins during off-peak times.

The front desk staff were incredibly slow. There were socks under the bed, and the management seemed disorganized. When they saw me taking my luggage downstairs, they assumed I was checking out. After breakfast, I went back up to my room and saw someone cleaning it. After they left, I went to the restroom and suddenly someone unlocked the door and walked in.

Great location by the Neckar River, easily reachable on foot from the main train station. The staff were multilingual and extremely accommodating. The breakfast buffet offered a wide selection. The major drawbacks were the small rooms and, especially, the very outdated furnishings throughout the entire hotel. Our bathroom was clean, but the tiles and bathroom fixtures felt like they were from the 70s, and the ceramics (sink and toilet) were deeply and darkly scratched. The air conditioning in our room wasn't working and couldn't be fixed. The bathroom light went out, but that was successfully repaired. Despite these deficiencies, we were not offered another room.

The bathroom was the only thing we had to complain about, but only the extremely high step into the shower and the shower comfort while standing on the drain in the corner. Otherwise, we were very satisfied with the Marriott Hotel!

Everything was great, nothing to complain about, even if the hotel is a bit old. The location on the Neckar is very nice, but you need transportation to get to the old town.

The lobby roof is leaking, the carpets are old, and the bathroom and elevators are outdated.
