This ryokan was next level. Seriously. The Kaiseki course dinner? No cap, it was insane. Like, peak deliciousness.
Best value for money I've found. If you roll up to this city, you'd be missing out big time if you skipped this spot. Highly, highly recommend.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel! There are two nice onsens, and the male and female baths rotate daily, so you get the chance to experience both. Besides the onsens, there were also foot baths, a free drink bar, and local liquor tasting, which was a really nice touch. Dinner was amazing as well — definitely worth trying if you stay here. Overall, highly recommend for a relaxing and enjoyable experience!

This is definitely a fabulous and fantastic experience living in a Ryokan, and this Ryokan is also reputable among local people, which means it is highly recognized by Hitoyoshi residents. Some local residents also spend their time in this Ryokan as a relaxing journey. I ordered the room with breakfast served, and it looked so amazing and delicate. I hope to visit here again in the near future if there will be any chances. I absolutely love this little town.

I had an enchanting two-night stay at this hotel, where the picturesque view of the river from my room added a serene touch to the experience. The included breakfast and dinner were nothing short of fantastic, offering a delightful journey through Japanese cuisine. The attentive service further elevated my stay.
The onsen was a highlight, boasting a spacious interior and a tranquil outdoor area. The immersion in the calming waters was a rejuvenating experience, and the overall ambiance added a profound sense of relaxation to my stay. Highly recommend for those seeking a blend of natural beauty, exceptional food, and attentive service.

I had a good impression of the hotel six years ago before the renovation, so I stayed here again this time, but I can't recommend it for everyone.
First, the front desk staff smelled like someone who had just smoked and didn't clean it off. As a non-smoker, it was shocking. For a place that costs 400,000 won a night, the first thing they did was smell like cigarettes.
There was hair in the bathroom, the toilet was dirty, and the bathtub, which I wasn't going to use, had black stains. A pigeon had also flown into the bathtub, and there were broken eggs, presumably pigeon droppings, all over the place. I was shocked to see this after getting in and out of the bathtub. The reason I paid so much for the bathtub was because of the room, but I really wanted a refund.
I went to the large public bath on the third floor, which I hadn't used before, and I immediately left after seeing stains floating in the bathtub.
The food was delicious and the portions were good, and the staff serving the meal were friendly.
I went there because they said it had been renovated, even though it was about 200,000 won more expensive than before, but I was shocked in many ways and it was so unpleasant that I didn't even want to take pictures.

It's a really nice place. There were many thoughtful touches, and the drink bar service in the lobby upon arrival was a great way to relax. I liked the modern and stylish bathroom in the room, as shown in the photo. I also liked that the shower booster and toilet were separate. The lighting in the bathroom was dim, making it difficult to apply makeup. The room only had a shower booster, so if you wanted to soak in a bathtub, you'd have to go to the large public bath. Breakfast was a set meal, not a buffet. Each dish was carefully prepared and delicious. The milk-based vegetable soup with soba noodles was especially excellent.

The staff were all very polite and smiling, which was great.
One thing that bothered me about the third floor bath was that both the changing room and the open-air bath seemed to be visible from the opposite bank.
Among the things that could be improved were that the meal service was a little late, there were no tissues in the guest room sinks, and although there was a portable mirror, there was no chair so it ended up not being usable.

Although in Kyushu, a kaiseki dinner can feature Kyoto's flying dragon head (a type of fish), a set breakfast can include Nara's flying dragon head (a type of fish dish), and the Kuma River offers river trout and sweetfish, so even those with seafood allergies can enjoy sashimi and tempura. The 7th-floor observation deck is excellent, offering views of Hitoyoshi Castle ruins across the street.
