Hoi An Riverside Villas & Apartments

I read the reviews and thought this place was amazing, so I chose it over a five-star hotel, and it was priced similarly. However, expectations versus reality diverged quite a bit. I don't want to criticize the reviews or the hotel staff; I simply wanted a certain level of quality, but the hotel is quite old, and there were issues with the bathroom, plus the balcony lights weren't working. There's no elevator, so we had to carry our luggage and bags up to the 4th floor. The breakfasts are modest and good, but you do have to get up early. If you're looking for a charming, rustic atmosphere, then this place is great 👍

They even helped carry my luggage late at night, and they were incredibly friendly.

We stayed for one night as a family. The location isn't ideal relative to the old town (which we knew), so you'll always need a taxi, but traffic gets really bad during peak hours. The pool is decent, but not particularly clean. Breakfast was meager, and they were slow to replenish items. We arrived for breakfast an hour before it ended, and there was hardly anything left (we ended up just having coffee and some cucumber and tomato). The staff are friendly, until something goes wrong. Kids from other guests run through the reception area after using the pool, leaving puddles everywhere on the tiled floor, which isn't cleaned up promptly. My daughter slipped and scraped her knees there. The front desk staff simply asked if she was okay, but offered no compensation, first-aid, or apologies.
