As a family of three we spent a lovely week (commencing 2nd of May) staying at Tropical Sunset Beach Apartment Hotel, in Holetown. It is in a wonderful setting, and you can see the beach and the ocean from the rooms, barely a stone's throw away. The staff are pleasant and delightful, and the whole pace is spotless. There is a generously sized fridge and a microwave. The beds are comfy. Across the road is a large supermarket. It is affiliated to Waitrose UK and some of the prices reflect this. A pretty high class aura surrounds the place. Also, five minutes walk away, is the One Love Bar, which has brilliant outdoor karaoke on a Sunday night, with inexpensive drinks galore. So... get your bucket and spade out, and then your song list, and get booked in. You'll enjoy it. PS ... Who on earth is Alice?

We had a great time here at the Tropical Sunset Beach - we were there off the back of a cruise, so arrived at the hotel before 9:30am . The reception staff were super friendly and welcoming. They took care of our luggage so we could go out for the day and explore the area etc . It’s in a superb location - right on the beach front and yet central to all the shops / bars / restaurants of Holetown - fantastic ! Our room was a little dated but had everything we needed - good air-con , good shower , large comfy bed and a kitchenette. Being on the 3 rd floor meant we had great views from our balcony . The only negative was the same people on the ground floor reserving the sun-beds around the pool every day - including one couple who reserved both beds and chairs in the shade - staff were there and did nothing about it ! We loved walking up the beach towards mango bay and used the sun-beds just before Cafe Kalmer - guys there were brilliant and this is where a family of stingrays came into the shallows every morning for a couple of hours too

The main positive is the location. There are bus stops immediately outside, a large supermarket and pharmacy opposite and lots of bars and restaurants within walking distance. The views from the upper floor rooms are probably the best on this stretch of coast for proximity to the sea and the sun sets immediately in front of the hotel. Other positives are that the beds are huge and really comfy. Shower is amazingly powerful. staff are very friendly and they will change your beach towels for clean ones whenever required. The not so great was the traffic noise from the busy main road but to be honest that made sure we woke up nice and early! The kitchen is not really functional to cook in as there is no worktop. Towards the end of the week there were loungers on the beach which was great. This stretch of beach however is very narrow and by 330pm the tide had come in too far. The main disappointing thing was the pool area and sunbathing deck. I understand that storm beryl ripped away the decking however that was 6 months ago and it still isn't fixed which is an eyesore also means you have to clumber down wobbly steps to get to the beach. I understand that this is the Caribbean and nothing happens fast but all guests over Christmas and new year are paying premium rates so you would think they would try and have the work completed ao sufficient sunbeds could be out for all guests. Instead guests were hogging sunbeds and I suspect putting towels out at night as when I looked out at 530 one morning most beds were reserved with towels and there were no people about. There were stacks of sunbeds and no where to put them. It's such a shame as with some TLC this could be a lovely pool area. Would I return or recommend? No sadly. This place needs some investment

Our second visit and we have booked to go back in 2025. With so many repeaters you need to book early to grab the date you want. It's only a small place maybe 24 rooms but right on Holetown beach attached to a super bar and restaurant. It has a good kitchenette and is opposite a supermarket so you can eat in the room on the balcony with no troubles. Barbados is no longer a cheap place and most seemed to mix and match eating in and out to save some of their spending money. It's in need of a little TCL but the rooms are good enough for the money BUT the location is excellent. Holetown is a great place to holiday

Lovely hotel with the added benefit of being able to do some self catering. Immaculately clean and very friendly staff. Thank you for making our first trip to Barbados so special. Previous reviews comment on the size of the pool but with the beach so close the pool is a bonus for cooling down.

Third stay at Tropical Sunset. Some what disappointed this stay. Same great location. Cant beat its proximity to pick up essentials and food. Can beat its location next to many restaurants and bars.1St and 2nd St are an easy walk. Lime Grove Mall right there.  Cant beat the view and sunsets. Cant beat the calm water and the ability to walk the beach to the right or left.  Unfortunately the actual accommodation left a bit to be desired. Our last stay just before covid they were due to shut down and renovate. At the time I was a bit sad as surely this meant that the rates would go up. Its good and bad that it didn't happen. Rates are still the same and for me that's good. The bad is that I did find it quite tired. More so than my last stay in Jan 2020. Dealing with a tight budget its the best deal for the money. Check in was easy and friendly. We did have to ask for help with out 50lb bag. No help was offered. Two welcome drink coupons for the bar at Zaccios. We were in room 10 on the second floor. The room was clean. Cant complain about cleanliness. Kitchen area had appropriate kitchen items. Coffee maker has a reusable filter. Ice cube trays in freezer. Bathroom has newer shower with rainfall shower head. There are no outlets in the bathroom and its very small. Towels were decent. We found a hairdryer in the cabinet under the TV.  Decent size closet with 10 hangers. Two twin beds. Not very comfortable. The sheets were really old. Such as rough really old. Glad I brought my own pillow case. Two blankets that were in the closet. Very old scratchy wool blankets. The room has a table with two chairs. Older table, older table cloth that again is clean just tired. Do bring something so that you have access to more outlets. There are no luggage stands to put luggage. We used the table and the dresser top. AC was perfect and never a problem with the hot water. Toilet did clog twice and was addressed. Smoke detector beeped during the night and we took it down. Likely batteries and no big deal. Balcony nice. Table and chair with ashtray. It does get hot as the sun sets. Wish the balcony rail was not solid so the view would be more open. When sitting down you lose the view.  Some new sheets, new blankets. Some fresh paint. Just a little bit of love I think would make a huge difference. I am not looking for luxury. A room is a room and I am not in Barbados to enjoy my room. Though I do feel it should be comfortable and sleep is important. Outlets should be coinvent. Finding a place to put your suitcase should not be a hassle.  Would I stay again...maybe. I am not sure. I also don't like the no refund policy. Especially now after covid some kind of refund policy would be a kind thing to offer. Most accommodations offer full or partial refunds. You can change dates which they did with no problem. Mark the night shift security is awesome. Curly who assists with chairs is great. Happy to see those familiar faces from my previous stays.
