AAnonymous UserA family of three went to Shangdi for fun, and a friend recommended a homestay.
The boss and the boss's wife are very nice, enthusiastic pick-up and drop-off, and the route is very clear, so you don't take the wrong way in and out of the park! (This is very important when your legs and waist are about to be broken after playing all day)
The homestay is in the village, the environment is very quiet, the cows and horses like it very much, and so does my family. I hope to live here for a month or two without working to cleanse my soul😂
There is a swimming pool in front of the homestay. The temperature is not enough now and it has not been opened. The children like it very much😍 The swing downstairs is also very popular! In addition, the smart toilet in the room is great!
Finally, I have to highly praise the pancakes from the boss's breakfast stall. The children ate it for two mornings and didn't eat enough!

GGuest UserWe stayed here at the beginning of our trip and it could not have been more perfect.
The B&B was well maintained and decorated, providing many photo moments. In fact, they are so guest-oriented that the turning down service included heating up the bed as well as the floor. As we travelled during cold weather, it gave us the perfect end to the night.
We also checked in and went to the restaurant on a boat, making it a complete Zhujajiao experience.
The staff were all contactable via wechat to attend to our needs or provide advice. They were also very friendly, making tea for us and sat down for a chat.
My wife and I were very well fed not just through the complimentary afternoon tea and the breakfast, but also the snacks that were placed in our room.
The 1-time transfer to or from a nearby location also helped us alleviate any stress related to transport as they were taken care of by the staff.

Apparently only a 1 way either to Disneyland or from disneyland is available per night of stay.
We stayed for 3 nights so we get 3 trips. But we went to Disneyland for 2 days. So we needed 4 trips. The owner was kind enough to give us a free trip back. If not it will be charged at 25 CNY per trip.
Amenities
We booked the romantic long room. There are 3 types of this room with different names. The room floor area is large but almost 50% is outdoor space.
We could not switch off the lights for the first night as we could not find the switches. It was actually hidden behind one of the bed frames.
The visible switches were not in use.
The smart function of the lighting's covered 50% of the lights and 50% of lights were manual
There is NO HEATING even in winter. It is NORMAL for shanghai.
But the toilets were too much. There was no heated lights no heater in the toilet area. No space to hang clothes. The toilet is not opaque/ no curtains. Strictly meant for couples. No privacy.
The toilet bowl was heated and that was nice. It has a bidet function.
No hand soap at the basin but we brought our own soap so we simply switch out the soap to use as hand soap.
We could not figure out the setting but there might be heating? For the overall room. There was a thermostat that was set at 30 degree Celsius but overall still cold
Some inbuilt furniture looks old and worn out but you won't use it so it is fine.
Cupboard
Hanging area was limited but it has a canopy of sorts so we hanged it around there. So no issues with this
Bed
2 pillows per person was provided.
Comfortable
Under the bed was clean.
Floor space
Limited as 50% was outdoor
Kudos to cleaning under the bed
I put 50% of my luggage on walking area and 50% under the bed
My fiancé placed his on the side of the bed
Furniture
1 chair 1 table inside the room
2 chairs and 1 table outside the room on the verandah
Too cold to use but the owner did decorate the verandah with nice walkways and sweet walls
There is a nice and long countertop below the TV which was great for putting stuff
The room was airy
Breakfast was hot and filling. No variety. Same for all 3 days that we were there. 7 to 9am only.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about my recent stay at this homestay! From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with genuine warmth and kindness. The hosts are some of the most thoughtful and caring people I’ve ever met — they truly went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed.
One thing that really stood out was how **pet-friendly** the place is. I brought my dog with me, and he was in absolute heaven! He had the freedom to roam around the property, enjoy the open space, and relax just as much as I did. It was such a relief to find a place that treats pets like family — it made the stay even more special.
The homestay itself is beautiful— every corner of the space is thoughtfully designed, cozy, and spotless. It has a peaceful charm that makes it feel like a true escape from the noise of everyday life. The surroundings are calm, quiet, and perfect for anyone looking to unwind and recharge. I spent hours just enjoying the tranquility.
Another big plus was the convenience. There are shops and small stores you can order from, so I was able to order anything I needed with ease. The hosts even helped me get some medication- which is something I’ll never forget. Their care and attentiveness made me feel safe and looked after.
Every interaction with the hosts was a delight — they were never intrusive, but always available if I needed help. It’s rare to find such a perfect balance of professionalism and heartfelt hospitality. They truly made me feel at home.
I’m already counting down the days until I can return. If you're looking for a peaceful getaway with incredible hosts, pet-friendly freedom, and all the comforts you could ask for, this homestay is an absolute dream. I can't wait to come back and soak in the peace, the kindness, and the beauty all over again. Highly, highly recommended! The breakfast was also very nice- they made us this delicious toasted sandwich.

223cruzOverall the lane house is decent set within a lively Shanghai Lane House experience. We lived in 2 for 2 months when we first moved to Shanghai. This was our return trip to revisit our home of 4 yrs. The initial photos for Guisu Homestay with the charming window view doesn’t match the initial sell, but the detailed photos of the actual space does. However it’s smaller than it looks, as the top loft and kitchen counts within the measurement. So if you’re a family of 4 then this is perfect since the middle room will give you space to sit. But if you are 5 with the sofa permanently done up as a bed then it’s tight. All was good except the the shower doors were a little run down and shower was gunky and could use a little redo. All in all a good experience. The host was responsive to our needs but strict on the 12noon checkout. The neighborhood and overall location is unbeatable. Close to great food and served as our center base to revisit the French Concession from Jing An. Definitely a good place if this is your first time in Shanghai.

KKendall1. Firstly it's my duty as a parent to WARN families with young children that this hotel apartment is DEFINITELY NOT SAFE FOR YOUNG CHILDREN!
the very large windows open from the floor -as seen in my photos. Extremely DANGEROUS!😱💀 There are NO guardrails or strong glass barriers -and children, toddlers -can EASILY crawl or climb out and FALL OUT💀😱😭＞ High on the 21st floor, this was a total nightmare to realise when we checked in. 😖 Just a few seconds of not watching your child can result in tragedy.
2. The rooms inbuilt Air Conditioning is useless, so the owners have put in portable AC units in the rooms. However, the windows MUST BE OPEN in order for the portable Air Conditioning hot air exhaust pipe to go out the window (see photos) the first night we had all windows closed (for safety reasons for our child) and we baked!! So hot 🥵. My 1 year old boy was so dehydrated from the heat and so were we. The next day we ran the portable AC units (with windows open for the pipes and our eyes like hawks watching our toddler) and so the apartment felt a fair amount cooler but yikes the noise from those things was super LOUD! 📢 I don't even want to imagine this place in the middle of summer, it will be like an oven.
We're here 1 May to 5th, and it's not even that hot yet (inside apartment says 28 degrees).
Ok, those two things are the only negative points. Other than those two REALLY BIG ISSUES, the hotel apartment is just as advertised, very clean, fresh towels every day, great location, very large room suites, staff ok (not very friendly, they're a little, bit impatient, maybe he's tired of dealing with ”stupid foreigners”😃). Easy to check in. We were not asked for a deposit even.
The view is beautiful, wheelchair and baby pram access!! ( baby stroller! 👍)
Just PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE put safety guardrails or strong glass barriers in front of the windows or change the windows completely so that kids can't crawl out💀😱! If they do that AND fix the AirConditioning situation, this would be a PERFECT PLACE.
This is a long winded review but I was stressed out every single day because of the lack of safety with those damned windows😖😥😰😨

The kitchen can be used for cooking and has a refrigerator. It is more comfortable than a hotel. There is also a dining table for eating takeout, which is very convenient. It is really good and the price is not expensive.

GGuest UserThe hotel is a little bit far away from the city center, but you can take a bus to get to the nearest subway, overall the hotel is clean and the room was spacious. There's some maintenance that needs to be done because it looks older than the pictures.
I wouldn't reccomend it if you're solo travelling or with friends because the place is more targeted to families and there are usually a lot of children around so it's a bit noisy, and there is no coffee shop or restaurants near the area.
The lady at the reception was always available to help even if I couldn't speak chinese.
