Guangzhou Homestays

After staying for two days, I can confidently say that the service here is on par with a five-star hotel. As my daughter put it, 'the owner has great taste!' Adding the butler on WeChat was a breeze; messages were practically answered instantly. The included breakfast and afternoon tea were both beautifully presented. The breakfast, in particular, stood out with its antique-style food boxes, and the offerings were different each day, showcasing their exquisite attention to detail. Even the toiletries were top-notch; the hand soap in the lobby restroom was Aesop, which was a pleasant surprise. The hotel has an overall American style, with most of the amenities and staff uniforms made from linen. However, the service and attention to detail are reminiscent of a meticulous Japanese hotel. They've thought of everything, from umbrellas in the room to laundry detergent and Dettol in the laundry room. The complimentary water and drinks in the room were so plentiful, we couldn't even finish them all. Every time I walked into the lobby from outside, I was struck by its beauty, and the air conditioning was perfectly cool – so comfortable! Upon leaving, they even gave us some small pastries and helped us with our luggage to the car. Truly excellent service. Next time I'm in Guangzhou, I'll definitely be staying here again.

After staying at commercial hotels at Tianhe, shangxiajiu and yuexiu, we decided to opt for a homeatay in the old area of Liwan for a change. The room is beautifully decked. As our room is on the first floor, we had to draw our curtains to avoid peeping tom since it is within the liwan lake area. The staff are very friendly and you feel they are genuinely interested in you as a person and are happy to serve you. Location.... this depends on what you are after. The fact that you are surrounded by the lake and GZ residents playing badminton and going about their lives at the hair salon, having breakfast and hanging their laundry is fascinating. We even discovered an air con nicely decorated restaurant which we had dim sum for just rmb75 for 2! Because it is in the old town, whilst you are in the middle of everywhere, except for Yongqingfang, for the rest, you are usually about 1km away and the metro is about 9min walk for me. And taxis drop you at multiple spots as there are many roads to DXF. Still, we wish the homestay well and hope it stays in business for people who want to be surrounded by the real heartbeat.

The B&B has a quiet, yet engaging atmosphere, blending relaxation with activities. You can enjoy authentic hot springs, which are great for both mind and body ♨. It's clear the owner put a lot of thought into the design and decor. We cooked outdoors over a wood fire with the whole family, which was a wonderful experience of rural life. There's also a swimming pool, fishing, ping-pong, billiards, and other recreational facilities. There was a minor hiccup when our BBQ food in the freezer was mistakenly taken by other guests. The owner was very proactive in helping us check surveillance footage and resolve the issue. Although we missed out on outdoor grilling, we unexpectedly discovered the adjacent Forest Sea Water Park, which was incredibly fun. It wasn't crowded this season and was super convenient and close by. The last two photos are of Forest Sea Park – the kayaking and beach were fantastic and not expensive. It's much more cost-effective than staying directly at the Forest Sea Hotel.

Located in the valley at the entrance of Conghua Street, the campsite is very large. The whole valley is full of lychee trees. It should be nice to come here in summer. We booked a mountain stream tent, which is quite large. There are two 1.5 beds. The family of three slept very comfortably. There is a large hot spring pool on the balcony. It is very comfortable to take a bath at night. The children went fishing. There are so many fish in the small pond in the campsite. They caught a lot of fish in one or two hours. It was very fun.

Good location, comfortable stay for family, very nice and responsive host, local grocery store, coffee shop, Mcdonalds and Cantonese restaurant around the building, metro just 5 min walk. There is a washer but no dryer, cloth is a bit hard to dry in Guangzhou humid weather.

Facilities: Absolutely fantastic! The hotel's facilities and amenities far exceed those of a typical three-star hotel – a pleasant surprise indeed! They also offer stylish and elegant complimentary tea rooms, both large and small, for guests to relax and enjoy tea. The room's lights, air conditioning, curtains, and bathroom are all smart and very convenient to use. Cleanliness: If there's one outstanding feature of Huiyuan, besides its beauty and tastefulness, it has to be its impeccable cleanliness! It's the cleanest hotel I've ever seen. I stayed here for an exam at Huazhong Agricultural University, and despite the rainy weather, my second-floor room didn't feel damp or unclean at all. From the lobby to the room, everything was exceptionally spotless. Robot vacuums and cleaning staff were all diligently at work, meticulously cleaning the stairs and corridors. There wasn't a speck of dust in the room, no strange odors, and the solid wood furniture also had no unpleasant smell – very comforting! Environment: It's like a beautiful garden villa. The podocarpus trees, hydrangeas, lemon trees, orchids, ponds, and koi fish – all the plants and animals are so well-cared for. There are also several tea rooms on the first floor with a wonderful ambiance... Sitting there sipping tea and practicing calligraphy is one of life's true pleasures. The hotel owner truly has great taste and vision. Service: All the hotel staff are very gentle and approachable, making you feel right at home. On the first day, when I was checking in and about to go upstairs, the owner proactively helped me with my luggage. When I wanted to throw away some trash after lunch, the cleaning uncle told me to just give it to him. While I was exploring the courtyard, the room cleaning staff were also very enthusiastic and provided excellent service. The owner heard we were here for an exam and even offered to drive us there; all we had to do was tell the front desk the time. The next morning, on the day of the exam, the owner punctually drove us. He said he does this for all guests taking exams, as long as they inform him in advance. Summary: This is truly a wonderfully comfortable hotel. The facilities and amenities are excellent, very stylish and high-class. If you have any problems or needs, the hotel will help resolve them. I will definitely come back again. Highly recommended!

We stayed 4 nights at this hotel and overall our experience was good. The first apartment we checked in was missing a few things and after asking the reception we received them immediately. Unfortunately after sleeping 1 night we noticed the mattresses were really tough and we could feel the mattress springs which hurt our backs in the morning so we asked if we could change and we did. We moved to another apartment on the same floor, which was the same but more comfortable. We had everything we needed during our stay, daily checks from the cleaning lady to replace the trash bags and give us new towels and bottles of water. Thanks for the management of the hotel for helping us out with everything during our stay. We really appreciate it. The area is a bit outside of the touristic and central things but well connected with the metro. The city is huge anyway so you can’t avoid taking the metro so it doesn’t really matter if you’re 1-2 stops further away. We had lunch and dinner many times at the restaurants downstairs and we loved all of them.

I absolutely loved this resort, which came highly recommended by a friend! First and foremost, the front desk staff and butlers were incredibly attentive and accommodating, providing excellent service and always ready to help with any request. The breakfast spread was extensive, and the fish balls and wontons were particularly delicious! The resort grounds are vast, offering a wide array of activities, making it perfect for family trips. The shuttle service to every point of interest was incredibly convenient. Even though it rained during our stay, it added a unique charm to the experience. The air was wonderfully fresh after the rain, making it feel like we had stepped into a lush forest wonderland.

The beds are really comfortable, and having the subway entrance right outside is super convenient. The room also came with disposable toiletries. It felt very cozy and was really clean, just perfect for a family stay.

Location is good, very close to Guangzhou East station. Do not try to use exit B1 if travelling with large/heavy luggage as there are basically only stairs.. a lot of them; try and use the exit for the high speed rail. Not the easiest to find as the apartments share a building with a hotel. There is no signage showing you where to check in - you'll need to contact the host first via Wechat, where they will provide all the information. You can probably get by with communicating in simple English, but having at least an intermediate level of Chinese will get you a lot further. Only major issue I had with the apartment was that the fridge didn't work and released a very toxic kind of smell whenever I opened the door. I was too lazy to report it, but something to be aware of and report early if you also have that issue.
