Hong Kong New York Guest House (TST Metro H Exit) Reviews

On our second day, we went to the Ruins Church. We got lost because we followed the directions given to us by someone we asked for the way to the Ruins. We kept going back and forth until it got really late, and we didn’t make it back to the hotel until early morning In short, we lost our way. When we finally returned to the hotel, I rang the doorbell. I’m not sure if it was the owner or the caretaker who opened the door, but I know his name was Husein. He scolded us, saying we should have called him if we couldn’t find our way back because we disturbed his sleep. 😂 Our room was paid for, even though we barely used it since we were always out exploring and had no internet or phone to use when we got lost going to the Ruins. So all I can say is—it wasn’t fair of that hotel owner or caretaker to treat us that way.

Small room. Air-conditioning works well. Elevators break down from time to time. Convenient location.. There is a distinct smell in the building. If you are single and need a place for a few nights, dont mind the smell. This might be a fit for you!

The room is just enough for two people. The bed is not so big according to what is advertised. There is a shower heater. There is free disposable towel, soap and shampoo, toothbrush and toothpaste. The place is near to a lot of shopping places, MTR and bus stop going to Hong Kong International Airport.

I typically favor five-star accommodations; however, I selected this hotel primarily for its advantageous location. The staff members are exceptionally attentive and provide a comprehensive introduction to the available amenities. While this establishment may not align with the expectations of those seeking a luxury experience, it is well-suited for travelers who prioritize an enjoyable stay in Hong Kong and primarily require a place to rest.

Best guesthouse in HK center area. Location was especially convenient, the room had all the necessary equipment, very clean and the bed was big and steady enough for high performance. Also,  the building was quite an experience with great views of the city. Totally recommended for those in pursuit of an authentic hong-kongnese experience.

Fair enough for budget traveller

This place was convenient but would not be to the standard of most travellers. The window looked into an unmaintained concrete courtyard of rusted steel and aging air conditioning units. The room door security was a button lock on the door handle although admittedly I had nothing missing. The bathroom door was broken and had to be lifted to close properly. The lights were only neon tubes. Bathroom sink was cold water only. Towels were disposable paper ones. Bed mattress was foam style. Electric outlet for phone charging was located at the foot of the bed not the head of it. The elevator was slow and always full of people. On the positive side, the WIFI was fast and problem free, the sheets were clean, and it was quiet and peaceful at night.

Clean and comfortable stay.

Chungking Mansions is in a great location in Hong Kong right on Nathan street near Victoria Harbor. Sometimes cleanliness and peace can be sacrificed for convenience. I don't know how she does it, but Madame Jane manages to provide rooms that are mind-blowingly superior to expectations. I've stayed in other rooms in Chungking. There is simply no comparison. Forgot your shampoo? towel? slippers? Need a personal room to just get some much needed rest to yourself and avoid the snoring and smelly feet of fellow travelers? She has it all, and I think she's has truly put not only her money but her heart into making Hong Kong New York Guest House THE BEST place to stay in town at this rate. Really madame, you didn't have to go this far. You could have just gone for status quo like everyone else, but no, you had to go over over the top. Thank you so much for your kindness, generosity, and for making my stay in Hong Kong a true pleasure each and every time. Also, shout out to Moan, one of the staffers working for Madame Jane. Moan is honest, humble, prompt, kind, and easy to get along with. He will address any need you have in a flash and does so with a willing attitude. What a delightful place!

This is the definition of a budget room in Hong Kong: very, very, VERY small, the shower is above the toilets, and the bed can feel a bit small if you're 1.80 meter tall or above. The guesthouse is located on the 7th floor of the notorious yet fascinating Chungking Mansion Building (If you haven't heard about it, Google it). Having said that, the employees were extremely kind and helpful, and offered an even better price when we asked in person to extend for 2 extra nights.
