HK International Hostel

Traveling to Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong, I decisively chose the Hong Kong International Hotel within Chungking Mansions, and my stay far exceeded expectations! The location is absolutely amazing, just a 3-5 minute walk directly to Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station. Downstairs, there are 24-hour convenience stores, various cha chaan tengs (Hong Kong-style cafes), and beauty/pharmacy shops galore. Victoria Harbour and Harbour City are only a fifteen-minute stroll away, making shopping and getting around incredibly convenient and stress-free. The room was clean and tidy, with bedding changed daily. The private bathroom had stable hot water, and air conditioning, high-speed WiFi, and toiletries were all provided – small but perfectly formed. The front desk staff were warm and helpful, offering detailed check-in instructions and patiently assisting with luggage storage and travel route inquiries. In Hong Kong, where space is at a premium, this price offers exceptional value for money. It’s definitely my top choice for budget travelers and short trips. I'll be staying here again on my next visit to Hong Kong!

After much thought, I'm giving this place 3 stars. First, let's talk about the positives. Check-in was super convenient. I landed past 1 AM, went through customs, got my luggage, and by the time I arrived, it was nearly 3 AM. The staff member on duty, who was asleep, still got up to check me in. That's a plus. Then, I went upstairs and found the bed to be quite large, definitely not 0.8 or 0.9 meters wide, probably 1.2 meters, which was pretty good. Another star for that. The room also had a fan, air conditioning, and a private bathroom. Plus, there were shared hot water, a washing machine, and a microwave. So, the last star goes to the facilities. Now, for the negatives, which cost two stars. First, since I checked in late and was really tired, it was incredibly noisy in the hallway by 7 AM. There was also a foul smell wafting in. I thought, 'who's cooking sh*t?' Then I reconsidered, maybe someone was boiling a lot of eggs, and it was more of a chicken poop smell [grimace]. Later that afternoon, I was in my room, with the 'Do Not Disturb' sign on the door, and someone actually used a key to open my door! If I hadn't had the security chain on, they would've just walked right in. This made me feel extremely unsafe, and it's simply unacceptable. We're not asking for much, but safety and hygiene are basic necessities, right? I didn't request housekeeping, so why would anyone just open my door? Then there were cockroaches, which might be understandable in Hong Kong, but it's still pretty disgusting. So, it's up to you to decide. It's truly cheap, but it's also truly bad. If you're a budget traveler who doesn't mind noise or people potentially entering your room, then this place might be for you.

When I booked the room, I didn't realize how famous Chungking Mansions was. Then, when I tried to cancel, they refused. Everyone, please be very cautious. It's a hotspot for **[explicit content removed]**. I didn't even check in that night and booked another hotel instead.

The location is super convenient, but the building itself is a bit chaotic. The room was tiny, with just a bed, a small desk, a bathroom, and a mini-fridge. There's a common area with both hot and cold water available. The Hainanese auntie who checked us in was really enthusiastic and patiently explained everything. For the price paid, you really can't be too picky.

The ambiance is fantastic, the service was excellent—truly everything about this place was wonderful. I genuinely recommend everyone to come and stay here. It's also super close to the subway station! It totally gave me 'Chungking Express' vibes, haha!

A truly awful experience. The hotel staff couldn't speak Chinese, and when I arrived at 3:30 PM, my room still wasn't ready. There were hardly any staff members around the entire time. In the evening, the shower suddenly ran out of hot water halfway through, and I ended up catching a cold. I had to handle everything myself; this hotel absolutely does not justify its 500+ yuan price tag. I've already filed a complaint with the hotel and Ctrip the day before yesterday, demanding compensation for my losses.
