Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong

Absolutely speechless. A five-star hotel somehow got my room type wrong, assigning me a twin room instead of the king-sized bed I booked. Their solution was to come to my room and swap out the mattress, which is just ridiculous. What's even crazier is waiting and waiting, and no one ever showed up. The bed rails I requested weren't installed either, so my special requests were completely ignored. The charging port for my phone was broken and unusable, and there were no other outlets available (not even an adapter issue, just no outlets!). I'm beyond frustrated! This place is old, the facilities are terrible, and the staff's service quality is poor. Honestly, it's just awful. Do NOT book this hotel; find somewhere else!

Spacious and bright Horizon Club sea view room, with the glistening Victoria Harbour right there. In the afternoon, head up to the 21st floor, gaze at the mountains in the distance, the sea in the distance, and watch all your worries melt away.

This hotel boasts an excellent location! It's situated right in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui, just a stone's throw from Victoria Harbour. You can take the hotel's escalator to a footbridge and walk about 100 meters to the Victoria Harbour waterfront, and the Avenue of Stars is approximately 250 meters away. The hotel's sea-view rooms offer unobstructed panoramic views of the beautiful Victoria Harbour. It's also about 600 meters from major shopping centers like Canton Road, Harbour City, and Ocean Centre, making shopping incredibly convenient. Although it's an older five-star hotel, the facilities are quite new, and the hygiene is spotless. The front desk, luggage, and room service staff are all warm and attentive, especially the customer service team, who are incredibly thoughtful. They even considered the guest's perspective on clothes drying, truly reflecting Shangri-La's consistent five-star luxury and quality service. The hotel has both Chinese and Western restaurants on the first and second floors, offering a wide array of cuisines. Just 100 meters across from the hotel, there's a restaurant called 'Kung Fu' that serves delicious and affordable Cantonese dim sum for breakfast and dinner.

Although the hotel is a bit old, the rooms are very well-maintained, and the housekeeping staff are incredibly welcoming. On our first day, they helped us add an extra bed, and even gave us chocolates and balloons, which our kids absolutely loved. The ostrich leather sofa in the room was so comfortable; I doubt you could find one like it now. We tried both Shang Palace and the dessert shop downstairs. The desserts were great, but Shang Palace was just average. This trip to the Kowloon Shangri-La in Hong Kong was a delightful surprise, and we had a wonderful time! It's worth mentioning that the location of the Kowloon Shangri-La is absolutely fantastic. It's only a three-minute walk to K11, and the Wing On department store next door has so many wonderful finds. The sea view from our room was also spectacular.

This was our first trip to Hong Kong with the kids, and after much deliberation, we chose this well-established hotel. It exceeded our expectations! While the hotel is older, the facilities are well-maintained, and the cleanliness is excellent. The room size is generous, and the mattress is very comfortable – just the right balance of soft and firm. The staff were friendly and helpful, and I didn't experience any discrimination for speaking Mandarin. Check-in was handled patiently, and a special shout-out to Gary for his excellent service! The location is superb, right by Victoria Harbour, and close to the Avenue of Stars, the Star Ferry, and K11. Transportation is also very convenient; it's right outside Tsim Sha Tsui East MTR Station Exit P1, and only one stop away from West Kowloon Station. Breakfast was decent.

The Shangri-La Hotel is one of the places with the best service I've encountered in Hong Kong. Downstairs, you'll find Victoria Harbour, the Avenue of Stars, the Space Museum, the Art Museum, the Science Museum, and the Tsim Sha Tsui Star Ferry Pier, all within walking distance. The hotel is right at the East Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station exit, making it incredibly convenient to get to the high-speed rail station or Disneyland – practically instant access, which is super handy when traveling with kids. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. I'll definitely stay here again on my next trip to Hong Kong.
