I booked the SkyCity Marriott Hotel for a BGI event at AsiaWorld-Expo. The hotel has direct access to the venue, which was incredibly convenient. Given how expensive real estate is in Hong Kong, the room was small but well-equipped, clean, and tidy. The outdoor pool was also nice. It looked just like the pictures online. The free shuttle bus to Tung Chung was also very handy. Overall, I was very satisfied.

This was my first time staying at the SkyCity Marriott, and honestly, after numerous trips to Hong Kong, this was a rather disappointing experience. Here's why: 1. **Location:** The location itself is good, with the shuttle bus taking only three to five minutes to reach the hotel. However, the surrounding commercial facilities are extremely inconvenient, almost non-existent! Being next to the airport cargo area, there are no convenience stores like 7-Eleven or restaurants. Your only options are to dine at the hotel or go back to the airport for supplies. So, for future travelers considering this hotel, I strongly recommend buying any essentials beforehand when waiting for the shuttle bus at gates 9-11 at the airport, where there's a 7-Eleven and restaurants. Otherwise, you'll have to return to the airport, which is incredibly inconvenient and significantly increases both cost and time. 2. **Room Facilities:** The room was basic. The bed frame wasn't a standard one; it was more like a wooden frame, smaller than the mattress, with hollow spaces on the side resembling storage, almost like a cabinet laid on its side – I'm not sure what its purpose was. In short, it didn't look like something you'd expect in a hotel. The room was humid, the bedding felt damp, the linens were old, and the space was cramped. While the cleanliness was acceptable, it definitely wasn't worth the price of over 700 HKD per night. I wanted to try a different hotel for this layover, so I didn't book my usual Furama Sheraton, but this experience was genuinely poor. It significantly added to the time and inconvenience of buying food, drinks, and daily necessities for travelers. Thankfully, there's a shuttle bus every half hour to and from the airport terminal. 3. **Front Desk and Shuttle Bus Attendant:** I won't even talk about their attitude – there was absolutely no service attitude, just expressionless, sullen faces throughout. While waiting for the shuttle bus to the airport, if I hadn't spoken English, I probably would have been verbally attacked! Because I didn't clearly hear the young attendant's poor Mandarin about going to the airport, he yelled loudly at me in English, 'TO AIRPORT!!!' What the f***, I am not deaf! I sincerely suggest your group improves the professional demeanor of your staff. They are the face of your company at the entrance. If they don't enjoy their job, they should stay home instead of embarrassing themselves with that attitude at the doorstep! I was in a rush and couldn't be bothered to argue back, but I assume he's used to this kind of professional behavior. In summary, the experience was beyond words! As someone who travels frequently for business, I'm shocked by how much hotels in Hong Kong can vary!

The shower pressure was good, but the water never got hot; it was only cold, which made it uncomfortable. I didn't have time to eat, but I'd like to try the food if I have the chance to stay again.

The hotel staff were so kind and even took the initiative to recommend places for us to eat and shop. It was very thoughtful and made our day relaxing and enjoyable. Thumbs up! 👍

On the outbound journey, we got incredibly lucky. The hotel directly upgraded us to a large suite for free. The room was spacious. Although the decor felt a bit dated, it was very clean, making for a comfortable stay – perfect for a relaxing night during a layover. To my surprise, the return stay was a huge downgrade. The room we were assigned had a persistent strange smell, a mix of cigarette smoke and a damp, sewer-like odor. The ventilation wasn't great either, so the smell lingered all night. I barely slept, which really affected my energy for the next day. In summary: The location is ideal for an overnight layover, and sometimes you might get a room upgrade. However, the quality control of the rooms is inconsistent, and the odor issue seems to be a matter of luck. If you're sensitive to strange smells or a light sleeper, I'd advise caution before choosing this hotel.

I stayed here for one night during a layover. Even though it was a basic stay, the room was incredibly clean and very comfortable, so I was highly satisfied. The direct connection to the airport access line station was also very convenient, as I didn't have to get wet in the rain.
