The pub is just 10 mins walk from the Losehill Hotel where my wife and I were staying. Walked down from the hotel as it was a dry afternoon. Nice to see the pub was fairly busy, but we got a table without any problem. I suspect groups of four people or more would be advised to book a table in advance. Very small bar area inside the pub, but it had everything we wanted. A few beers/ales on tap, a few non-alcoholic beers, and all the other things you would expect. Barman was very busy but got to us quite quickly. Pub is very old (16th century) so inside is quirky and has quite low ceilings and door ways. I am not a tall person but even I ducked at times. We didn't have food this visit, but the menu looked fine and the dishes we did see being delivered to other tables all looked very good.

Stayed for 1 night last week. I had one of their famous pies for dinner on the night of my stay washed down by some wonderful local ale. My room was spotless and had everything you could need. Breakfast was equally impressive. The owners and their staff were incredibly friendly and could not do enough for their customers. It will not be long before I go back. Lovely location as well for taking in the amazing walks up the tors. Thank You.

As we were staying in a B&B in Hope this was one of the obvious places to eat, especially with good TripAdvisor reviews. Unfortunately it did not meet expectations. The starter of mushrooms was very good, and it looked as if we were in for a really good meal. We had both chosen venison. I wanted mine cooking for slightly longer than my husbands. Once we started eating we realised we had been given the wrong plates and had to swop. The venison was served with tenderstem broccoli and dauphinoise potatoes. My broccoli stems were thick and unfortunately not cooked. I appreciate it is difficult to ensure the stems are cooked, and not overcook the head. With stems as thick as mine they could have been split into two, and mixed with less thick stems, which my husband had. They were left. The potatoes were slightly dry. The gravy was tasty, but too thick, and it fell, rather than poured onto the plate. The venison was well cooked, and better accompaniments would have made this a great meal. I remarked to the waitress that the broccoli was practically raw, no reaction.

Popped in for an evening meal, what a disappointment. I ordered a pie. Meat was 3 different colours ranging from days old to just cooked. The pastry top was not cooked and had been placed on top as an afterthought. Didnt see a single grown up. Looked like a local youth club was in charge for the night. Save your money and go to mcdonalds instead..

Had an overnight stay here recently, it's everything a good pub should be, friendly staff and owners, a real olde worlde pub ambience, we had room 2 and it had all we needed, the bed was supercomfy too, a great base for walking, we stayed somewhere else the next night as we were visiting different places, it had just had a major refurbishment and had only reopened a few weeks ago, and the Cheshire Cheese beat it hands down! We would love to come back another time

Quaint pub. Cosy and welcoming. Very friendly staff and very helpful. Good menu and tasty home made type dishes and decent portions. We visited twice and had a very nice crisp New Zealand white wine too. Definitely best to book a table as it is very popular.

Was taken to to the restaurant by my daughter for a birthday/father days meal. We took in a local walk prior then went for our meal. In tow was our faithful and always hungry lab. The menu had far too many delightful dishes to choose from but being a Sunday, obviously the beef roast diner had to be tried. My daughter had the Turkey. Our Lab had a Watkins Butchers sausage! (spoilt doggy). All 3 meals were superb, the quantity was enormous and quality was brilliant. A really decent price as well. The cheesecake was ridiculously good, as was my Crumble. The best custard I have tasted in a long time. Cannot fault in any way.

Stayed for 3 nights over the bank holiday weekend. Very comfortable, cosy little pub and a great base for local walks like Lose Hill. Loved our room, good food (especially the hearty breakfast) and great beer. Very friendly staff, with big shout out for Chikita who was fantastic. Excellent!
