Hilton Houston Plaza/Medical Center

This hotel is very close to LAX, making the shuttle bus super convenient for early morning or late night flights. However, the food at the hotel restaurant on the first floor was really not good. Overall, the experience here was quite a bit different from what I've come to expect from a Sheraton in China.

It was the most unbelievable hotel experience I've ever had. The first room I was given smelled extremely moldy, and the towel rack in the bathroom was so dusty that it left a towel-shaped mark. By the time I realized this, it was already late at night, so I had no choice but to stay in the other room. However, the moldy smell was so bad I couldn't sleep at all and my throat ended up with a very sore throat. The next morning, I asked the front desk to change my room, and they immediately upgraded me to a new room, but it wasn't exactly clean (although the air conditioning had been improved), and the bathroom facilities were quite worn. As compensation, I was given a $25 voucher for use at the hotel's convenience store and a breakfast voucher (I couldn't use breakfast because my schedule didn't suit me), but even now that I've left the hotel, I'm still suffering from a sore throat and other allergies, so I feel like this was not worth it at all. Because they quickly accepted my room change, I gave the service a 2. However, the hotel as a whole just didn't feel like a Hilton. There is an urgent need to improve the facilities.

The location is great, you can take the bus and walk to Rice University and the museum district.
