Stayed there for 2 nights as part of a walking holiday in Bohemia; including the May bank holiday. Site: awesome situation within the woods - on a cliff overlooking some excellent views. Wonderful sunrise. The castle is very well maintained and having stayed in similar palaces/castle hotel conversions previously, this is right up amongst the rest. Be aware that due to the nature of the place, there are no lifts or air conditioning. Beds are very nice and the power shower is a boon. Rooms are huge, airy and wonderful views. Food: excellent restaurant site, inside and outside - along the ramparts. exquisite meals, good variety, vegetarian options are present but few. Good breakfast spread. Would definitely stay again.

The location is great and just what I wanted: perfect views and access to amazing trails through the Cesky Raj. It was also great to have a restaurant on site, as we were travelling by train and couldn't drive anywhere else in the evenings. We found all the staff very nice too. I am bit more ambivalent about the rooms, though. There are some stellar reviews written recently by people on walking tours, so maybe they get the best rooms. We opted for a double with a view, which is a more expensive type than some of the others, and which according to the hotel's site came with armchairs, blackout blinds and a mini bar. In fact, it was rather small with just one straight-backed chair and an empty fridge, one window had no blind so light came in, and the bed was rammed into a narrow corner so one person slept against a wall and had to climb in and out over the foot of the bed. I've stayed in a few castles which have slightly worn or dated accommodation (e.g. Czocha in Poland), but they are usually cheaper than this one. For the money charged, the room was bit disappointing.

Beautiful hotel with lovely views. The staff are friendly. The girl on reception is amazing .We have no Czech and she organised taxis. Nothing was too much trouble. There is a Spa but we didnt visit it. The garden is perfect for relaxing in after a day hiking.

Spent 2 nights here while on a walking holiday. We spent up for a suite and it was large and comfortable with a separate room with a chair and couch. The bed was comfy and it was quiet. And loved waking up to the birds singing away. The hotel room was clean and had a fridge and my wife LOVED the bathtub after a couple of long hikes. Winner!

The hotel is in an old castle, in a park with sensational views of the surroundings. The restaurant is good and fairly priced and you eat with this phenomenal view of the valley around you. The room was very large, and the bathroom too and although the reviews about needing some paint refresh and the furniture a little worn out are true and there is no lift, hey forget if it, it is like being in a real palace. The young lady in the reception deserves a special mention, she carried our bags up the stairs, she gave us perfect directions for the trekking paths and a very useful map and everything with a smile. Breakfast is a joy. The parking costs a little, but it is clearly stated in the booking as so and we can understand with so many tourists coming to the place and the small price gives you a perfectly private and quiet parking experience. Trekking in the surrounding park is marvelous. We had the most perfect weather one can imagine, not hot, not cold, sunny and with a breeze, and most of it is in the trees shade so this added to the positive review. The boulders are so magnificent and interesting. Forget all the negative reviews, just go !!

You’ll read reviews of this hotel that say it is old, worn down, and not modern. All true — but, on the other hand, how often does one have the opportunity to stay in a an ancient castle, complete with moat? Totally fun. We’d definitely stay here again, even in spite of the deferred maintenance and lack of elevators and aircon.

A castle atop the rocks - fabulous location for a hotel. Amazing views over the rocks. The outside terrace of the restaurant gives you the chance to enjoy the views, excellent place for dinner and breakfast. Restaurant serves good food at a rapid tempo. Room was poor. Very dated. Not especially clean. No mattress protector and pillows with no support. Mattress self was okay ( though dirty). Room not serviced. Breakfast buffet had mediocre choice and not replenished. WiFi works astonishingly well. Reception can offer little information on walks nearby and the walks in the area are really good. General level of apathy and lack of service. Such a shame as this place could be special. As it is, certainly not 4 stars, 3 at best.

What a amazing stay! When we checked in and we were looking for our room, we met a hotel manager which was so kind and he took us to our room and he told us something from the history of the building and hy told as a story about our room. It was very special place for the former owner cause it was a chapel. There stlll were some old framgents and also small statue of st. Mary. This hotel is situated in very special place, you will loose your breathe. I love breakfast on the terrace where you can see the castle on one side and the rocks on the other side, it so beautifull. It is definitely one of the most romantic places in Czechia

Beautiful location, beautiful castle. Service certainly leaves much to be desired. Just drag your suitcases and sort it out. Parking can be reserved for an additional charge. Breakfast could be much better, t****erangs. Room service and cleaning lousy. This location offers so many possibilities but is not being used.

Very beautiful castle, definitely worth a visit! As far as the hotel is concerned, it is much less worth visiting. We stayed here for 4 nights and even when a sign was hung on the door 'please clean the room', we came back several times without it. only the beds were made. The breakfast was also not 100% OK, it took a very long time for certain things to be replenished (even if you had breakfast before the rush). It was also very poorly insulated, so that the slightest sound from the end of the corridor could be heard very loudly. Finally, we were asked if there was any possibility to park, to which the answer was that it was possible to park on the property. After this it turned out that this did cost some money and it was possible to park 20 meters further for a much cheaper price. All in all, I wouldn't recommend staying here.

Everything is perfect here: the building - Schlurg (a mixture of a castle and a fortress), the surroundings - the Bohemian Paradise -, the service: everything is simply a dream. Well suited for romantic weekends, but also for family holidays. You can sit on the terrace and enjoy the magnificent view, the breakfast and food in the restaurant is delicious, the service was very nice, courteous and friendly. It wasn't the last time we were there!
