I think this is good, and it would better fit your current travel journal style. Keep the story at the beginning, then present the 'ratings' directly at the end. It makes it easier for readers to skim and provides more valuable reference.
[June 2, 2026 | Island Tour Day 2]
A seven-minute detour led to a comfortable night.
Kenting to Hualien was further than expected. We leisurely made our way up from the Earth God Temple, Donghe Baozi, and Stone Umbrella, finally arriving at Lakeshore Hotel Hualien Taroko in the afternoon.
There was a slight hiccup in between; the navigation system took us to another guesthouse. After re-navigating, we realized the actual Lakeshore was only seven minutes away.
Lakeshore Taroko is divided into three buildings: Hua Shi Jian, Qin Hai, and Shan Kuo. We stayed in the Shan Kuo building.
The self-check-in machine failed to recognize my details, so a staff member eventually helped us complete the check-in.
Upon opening the room door, half the fatigue from driving all day instantly vanished.
Although the window view wasn't a direct ocean view, the simultaneous sight of mountains, sea, and fields was even more comforting than I had imagined.
For dinner, we enjoyed a couple's set meal directly at the hotel. Overall, the performance was good, with each dish having its own highlights.
My Accommodation Ratings:
🏨 Room Comfort: 9.5/10
The room was spacious, the bed was very comfortable, and there was a small sofa. The large window view was a huge plus.
It wasn't a direct ocean view room, but being able to see mountains, sea, and fields simultaneously, I actually preferred it.
🛎️ Service: 9/10
The dinner staff were friendly. It would have been even better if the self-check-in process had been smoother.
🍽️ Dinner: 8.5/10
Overall, it met a certain standard, but personal preferences really dictate enjoyment for each dish.
Loved ❤️
✔ The first appetizer (especially the cold pork skin salad)
✔ Crispy black gold tofu
✔ Cordyceps flower blanched palace vegetables (stir-fried to be very crisp and tender)
Found OK 🤔
– The soft-shell crab wasn't particularly amazing.
– The sakura shrimp fried rice had a nice aroma, but my husband felt the sakura shrimp was a bit scratchy in his throat.
– The additional sake and abalone didn't meet expectations.
– The wild vegetable and tiger fish ball soup was unique, but its taste is subjective.
☕ Public Spaces: 9.5/10
The ground floor offered complimentary welcome tea and biscuits. The wooden interior paired with the tea aroma – that 'literary' ambiance has always been why I like Lakeshore.
💰 Value for Money: 9.8/10
The original price on Trip was about NT$3600, and after using Trip Coins, it was about NT$2800 including breakfast. I think it was excellent value.
⭐ Overall Recommendation: 9.3/10
The charm of Lakeshore isn't luxury, but rather a comforting feeling that encourages you to slow down. After driving all the way from Kenting to Hualien, what truly healed me wasn't a specific dish or attraction, but that moment of sitting by the window, gazing at the mountains and the sea, with nothing else to think about.
