Shanggu Shidai, an old residence built in 1803 (the 8th year of the Jiaqing reign of the Qing Dynasty), has now been converted into Shanggu House Homestay. It is one of the relatively well-preserved old residences in the ancient town. This house is a two-story all-wooden quadrangle with a front yard and a back yard. The mottled stone slabs, carved window lattices, and the simple blue bricks and black tiles all whisper the story of a hundred years. Of course, there is a certain deficiency in sound insulation. We arrived late in the afternoon and were grateful that it was hassle free to find this homestay. It is located close to the town's entrance. We booked a room overlooking the river. It was a huge room and had floor to ceiling glass window for us to sit and enjoy the dreamy, rainy day. This border town is quite small but we decided to stay overnight as it took a few train transfers and taxi to reach here. The next day, the homestay owner/manager was very helpful to assist us to book the shared car to Jishou Railway Station which is 1 hour away. It is a off-peak season during beginning of November so there wasn't that many cars for hire. Was truly grateful for him to made the arrangement for us without having to pay exorbitant fee to book the whole car to ourselves. It would have cost us 4 times more. I always appreciate such attentiveness from homestay owners. Thank you! Besides that, the homestay comes with the usual amenities, hot shower and comfortable bedding. The view was great!

Four friends traveled together and it was a very satisfying stay. The room was very large, and the boss also prepared welcome fruits, coffee, and afternoon tea. The room can directly see the core attraction Laladu, and the ferry crossing is right downstairs. It's very convenient. The hotel is in a very central location. It's so comfortable to have a late night snack and stroll around the old streets of the ancient town! The boss is very nice and knows everything about the local area. He knows everything you ask. 想趕在國慶人多前短途旅行休息休息，熱門景點大都去過了，研究半天選擇來了邊城，打卡一下沈從文《邊城》書中的這個小古鎮。 因為不是旺季所以這個小鎮里人不多，來的這幾天天氣都不錯，能夠很悠閑地走走看看，看水看山。附上小鎮美圖，白天夜晚都有意境～ 途中發現了這家酒店，外觀就引人打卡，老闆也很客氣熱情，介紹説是新開的酒店。正好想再在邊城這歇一天，於是就決定在此落腳了。 酒店裝修很亮堂整潔，大堂還有咖啡機，上樓有電梯很方便。我很喜歡房間原木風的設計，現代温馨。房間面積寬敞，床品舒適，這一定要點個贊😄，洗護用品也是在日本玩住酒店看到的同款，房間的各方面細節都挺到位的。老闆還推薦了好吃的飯店，沒想到在邊城小鎮能住到這樣品質和服務，性價比不錯，下次想休息休息的時候會考慮再來👍
