Sura Hagia Sophia Hotel

Due to unbearable room conditions and serious shortcomings in the spa area, we had to cut our stay short by one day. Below, we list the serious defects that completely ruined our stay: 1. **Major deficiencies in room accommodation and hygiene** * **First room:** Immediately after check-in, we were informed that we had to change rooms due to a problem. We were assigned an alleged upgrade to a room with a bathtub. This room had an unpleasant smell in the entrance area, and the bathtub was completely dirty, so we had to clean it ourselves before we could even use it. * **Second room (room change the next day):** This room was an absolute nightmare. It constantly and intensely smelled of sewage/slurry. Since the air conditioning was broken, the window couldn't be opened properly, and it was extremely loud outside, we spent the night in unbearable, foul-smelling air without any sleep. 2. **Grossly unprofessional and health-hazardous behavior in the spa** * Parallel to the room deficiencies, incidents occurred during the booked wellness treatments (Hammam and massage) that we have never experienced in any other hotel: * **Lack of medical history and risk assessment:** Before the Hammam treatment, no health inquiry was conducted. The staff member then performed a very intense, deep abdominal massage/peeling. Afterwards, she unsolicitedly and falsely claimed that I was pregnant. If there had indeed been a pregnancy, this reckless procedure would have posed a significant health risk to me and the child. Such a presumptuous comment about my body is also highly impolite. * **Phone use during massage:** During the subsequent massage, the flow of the treatment was constantly interrupted. The staff member sometimes held me with only one hand while typing on her smartphone right next to my ear with the other, after a video or audio sound had been loudly turned up twice. Private phone use during a paid treatment is absolutely unacceptable. **Conclusion and Demand:** We paid a lot of money for this stay hoping to find relaxation. Instead, we were confronted with extreme odor pollution, sleep deprivation, lack of hygiene, and completely unprofessional service. Our early departure was the logical consequence of these untenable conditions. We expect a thorough and objective review of these incidents from an establishment of your category.

The hotel is incredibly close to the Hagia Sophia, which is a huge plus. It's great to take an evening stroll after dinner and enjoy the views of the Hagia Sophia and the nearby mosque. The room itself is small, which is typical for European hotels. The breakfast is quite decent for a continental breakfast, offering a good variety, but it's nothing extraordinary. There are also plenty of dining options in the surrounding area. The gym is well-equipped.

The entire facility is quite old, and the shower faucet was rusty. However, the location is good, and the breakfast is excellent!

The room in the old town was just okay, but the location was excellent and the breakfast was plentiful!

The biggest advantage of this hotel is its proximity to the attractions. It's right near the Blue Mosque and also very close to the T1 tram station. The hotel service is excellent, and the breakfast is very rich. They even helped us book a taxi in the early morning for our flight, which was super convenient overall.

The location is absolutely amazing!!! Environment: Step out of the hotel's left side, and you can see the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, and the Basilica Cistern all at once. Walk for another 10 minutes, and you'll reach the Topkapi Palace – truly incredible! Plus, the T1 tram line is right nearby, making it super convenient! Don't listen to Google Maps, it will take you on a detour; just exit the hotel and walk to your left. Facilities: The hotel facilities are a bit old, but very clean. The highlight is how quiet the air conditioning is – truly befitting an old-school five-star hotel! My mom absolutely hates AC noise, and she was very satisfied with this hotel! However, because it's next to the mosque, you will hear the call to prayer around 6:30 AM. Also, for a twin room, the beds are 0.8 meters wide, which is indeed a bit small.
