Swissotel Buyuk Efes Izmir

Excellent hotel right in the heart of Izmir. A significant feature of this hotel is its private grounds, which is quite rare for a city hotel. The rooms are large and spacious, with all amenities, and even include a bathtub in addition to the shower cabin. Breakfasts are delicious and varied, and there's also a large, warm swimming pool. On the downside, prices at the hotel's bars and restaurants are quite high (even for a 5-star category), and they charge a €100 per day deposit upon check-in (something to be aware of). If you pay the deposit in cash, the unused portion is returned. Nevertheless, I highly recommend this hotel; everything is excellent and high-quality.

This hotel stands out for its excellent location and outstanding service. It's a very large property, and the prices are definitely in the premium category.

We booked for a 4-night stay. For the last two nights, the hotel hosted a loud party in the garden with speakers blaring from early evening until midnight. It was impossible to sleep. The hotel did not inform us beforehand that there would be a late-night party. Additionally, after checking in, I informed a staff member named Mr. Doza that I needed extra bed sheets and blankets. He told me to go to my room and dial 0 myself. It took three attempts for someone to finally take my request, and then the housekeeping never brought anything. I had to inform another staff member. While it wasn't a huge mistake, this is certainly not the service one expects from a 5-star hotel. The restaurant was good, and breakfast offered a wide variety of choices. The concierge was excellent and helped us plan our itinerary for all three days. Many thanks!

As of June 4, 2026, the hotel's main entrance is closed, and a side entrance is being used. Overall, though, it's a beautiful hotel with very clean rooms.

The pool is nice, but the air conditioning isn't great and the service is inconsistent.
