Brzeeybay Shuzenji is located quite far from train station on a slope. Nearest bus stop is 20 -30 minutes by foot’s, especially if you have luggage. Bus frequency is only 2 or 3 buses in an hours. Taxi is around 2000 yen from the station. In trip.com it was written transfer available but when I called the Hotel to pick us from train station they said they do not provide such service. Thus please remove the “transfer available” on website. It is very misleading. Bus service end before around 7:45pm. We had a scared night unable to get Taxi back to Hotel around 8:30pm. Overall most of the service provided by the hotel are relatively good and satisfactory. The have foreign counter staff can speak English. They also provide 2 round of happy hour with light meal like Oden and ramen with free flow of coffee, soft drinks and beers. Famous Shuzenji temple, bamboo forest, Katsura river and souvenir shops are within walking distance.

I had seen photos, but the exterior was a bit… The front desk staff were foreign, but check-in was on time and smooth, and they explained the hotel facilities thoroughly. We stayed in a Japanese-style room overlooking a rock garden. It had two semi-double beds and a wide veranda. While the room was spacious, it felt bleak, and the rock garden was overgrown with weeds, completely lacking any atmosphere. The meals consisted of a mini-kaiseki and a buffet, with free alcoholic drinks, which might feel like a good deal. The food didn't use any particularly exciting ingredients, but it was neither good nor bad; it filled you up. The open-air bath was reservation-only and private. The water was a little hot, but I was able to relax. Overall, it lacks luxury and delicate hospitality, but if you consider it a place to eat and sleep, it's probably acceptable. Most of the staff are foreign, but they are kind and communication wasn't an issue.

The staff, though foreign, spoke Japanese very well and were all so friendly and easy-going, which made our stay very comfortable and reassuring. ☺︎

We stayed for 2 nights and 3 days as a family. We are a Japanese family. The price was reasonable, so we were somewhat prepared for some shortcomings, but personally, we were satisfied. [Good points] - The breakfast was delicious. The lineup was the same, but considering it was 1000 yen per meal, it was acceptable. Overall, the staff's service was good. - We were told it was a smoking room, but we didn't notice any smell. - The indoor bath was free of mold and dirt, and there were no problems. - We stayed in a Japanese-Western style room. There were two beds and a comfortable space to relax, and it felt more spacious than expected. - The evening stroll around the area was fantastic, with the area lit up. [Points of concern] - It was generally dark at night, and the corridor leading to the open-air bath was particularly dim and scary. - While it was good that they accommodated us at the last minute for the dinner buffet, considering the 3500 yen price, our satisfaction level was low. Overall, I was very satisfied with the reasonably priced plan. I also thoroughly enjoyed exploring the surrounding area both day and night. The people I met in the area made a very good impression. I would definitely like to visit the Shuzenji area again. Thank you very much.

We happened to be there during Japan's five-day public holiday, and over 90% of the guests at the hot spring inn were local families. We were the only Chinese people there. The receptionist was from Southeast Asia, and we communicated smoothly in English. Breakfast and dinner were buffet style; the food was filling but of average quality, and the overall facilities were quite outdated.

The service and location are both good, the dinner and breakfast are plentiful, the rooms are large, and you can choose a private hot spring session (40 minutes) for free, which is great value for money.
