I can’t imagine a more unique place to stay in Rajasthan. In a state where “palace stays” are common place, this truly was an opportunity to live like a maharaja. The property still belongs to the lineage of the maharaja of Jodhpur, and the family maintains the house as a play to stay while they are not using it. Of course, there are some facets that do not make this a typical hotel. There’s no central heating; the towels might not be as fluffy as you want. However this is really what it’s like to be a maharaja. Friendly staff wait on you at all times (Babu was our favorite). The house is stocked with antiques and mementos of the maharaja.
