We booked our honeymoon trip through Trip.com, which included flights and accommodation.
We've stayed at many guesthouses, but this was by far the most absurd. The only message we received about parking was not to park where cones were placed. We had also informed the owner in advance that we would be arriving late for check-in.
There were hardly any streetlights around the property, and no parking available. When we called past 1 AM, the owner sighed and told us to park anywhere near the sign. Before I could even finish speaking, they cut me off, saying, "I'm sorry, but at this hour, please only text." LOL.
Excuse me, but we're not locals! How were we supposed to know where to park, especially since the on-site parking was full? How could we have known to text to ask for parking information?
Anyway, since we were on vacation, we just wanted to make the best of it and quickly headed into our room.
The next morning, after enjoying breakfast, I texted to ask if we could get more towels and extra water.
We didn't text or call again the day after that.
However, to our utter shock, the owner knocked on our door while we were napping, asking if we were there. We were tired and tried to go back to sleep.
But then, they knocked again, entered the passcode, and came into our room. They didn't just leave immediately; they left the towels and water, but the pause was quite long.
I quickly told my husband to go out.
Is it right for them to just knock and enter our room without any prior text or call? We paid for and rented this space for three nights and four days. They entered without permission and left towels and water that we hadn't even requested. The room and bathroom were right next to the entrance.
What kind of disaster would have happened if we were using the bathroom or showering?
When I texted them about it, they replied with, "Oh, yes, I'm sorry. Please let me know if you need anything." LOL.
There were so many demands written everywhere telling us what not to do, yet why did the owner enter our room without permission?
Our enjoyable honeymoon turned into a trip ruined by a terrible experience.
Rudeness cannot be excused, even if it's a mistake.
Trip.com didn't mention that the swimming pool was unavailable, but we found out it wasn't accessible through a text after booking. They said they couldn't inform us in advance because our contact information wasn't listed. Well, then they should have put it on Trip.com!
We will never go back.
