The service from the front desk was terrible. I came in with my luggage, and they never bothered assisting with the luggage trolley.I had to look for the luggage trolley myself and struggled to push it to the elevator. When I was checking out these ladies were just giving mean glances. They should do better on customer service

Literally next to the mall, which has banks, grocery stores and restaurants. The shower is nice and big, although figuring out the hot/cold water adjustments was a bit difficult. My chosen room was fitted with a corner to corner carpet. Personally, not too fond of carpets. But it was clean, which is a plus. Breakfast was definitely tasty, too bad I was in a rush.

I enjoyed my 2 years studies with Wits through City Lodge Newtown's support and warm welcome. They even gave my family a beautiful memorable gift ❤️, as a token of appreciation. Very hospitable. Safe place for everyone including small kids Thank you City Lodge Newtown

The food is great! The staff was amazing! And the view from my room was beautiful. I was assisted with all my needs. It’s next to the mall so it’s easy for me to do my shopping and all. The place is safe and a great area. I will definitely come back here again.

The hotel allows a classy dive into Johannesburg’s vibe. The area worth a city trip - with the train station within a 8 minutes taxi drive, the Africa Museum and the Market Theater just next door, still counting with comfort and quietness. The room was very descent and clean. The stay and breakfast were rather plastic free!

The room was very stuffy on arrival, had to sleep with the window open(noise from the road was just cray) but had to endure that because of the unbearable heat in the room, mind you it's winter now, I wonder bad it gets in Summer. There's no Room Service, I was very sick and I had to walk up and down the stairs to get food from the Cafe... Breakfast buffet very limited, or more like bread and cereal were the only available options but the Cafe staff will happily get you what you ask for even if it's not on the menu and that was amazing. Had safety concerns but was quite impressed that it was very safe, even in the late hours after clubbing, excellent location!!!

Clean room, cozy bed Need to update the tv And furniture a bit old fashioned but some like that The price is not bad Area is a safer than it’s seems just keep to yourself and try to order in But you can get a whole air bnb for the price Oh and the shower was great

The reception personnel was not helpful as usual ,we were not made aware of the electricity problem when we booked,we would have been able to choose to stay or go somewhere else,we also ordered food and the order did not come as we instructed,we called nandos and they were returned with our order

The customer service us excellent...from the reception right through the whole stay. The rooms are comfortable and clean. They have hot and cold breakfast options. No room service though! The snack restaurant serves great meals. We'll worth a visit if you are looking for budget friendly accommodation in the heart of the city!

Dear City Lodge Im Lan Tebogo Mashale booked in City lodge newtown johannesburg 15/01/24 room 312. Received a call from the receptionist at around 10:30pm while sleeping asking me about how i got booked who payed my stay and explained again at about 11;02pm the Duty manager phone again for me to come to reception .i went for my surprise was told to go as they don't see the payment or pay ,was disappointed as a guest. I showed them the proof of payment but the manager insisted that i pay now or go. As i waited for 30 min she came back and said we found the proof you can go and sleep.I will be taking the matter to my attorney.

Booked this place several months before my stay. 2 weeks before arrival, I asked them (via the booking platform used) about the airport shuttle (which they supposedly offer) and asked for it, or otherwise a recommendation of who to use. They didn't answer. A week later, I asked again. No answer. Then I wrote directly to the umbrella company to ask. Even they didn't bother to answer! After writing to 3 other hotels and getting answers from all, I booked somewhere else and cancelled this place. How very rude they are, that they can't even be bothered to reply to guests.

The entire stuff was friendly from the reception, house keeping and the stuff at the cafeteria. The room was immaculate clean, the bedding was pure white as if it was new. The towels, mirrors as well were super clean. Cleanliness and friendliness from the stuff is what welcomes you at City Lodge. The pool as well was clean. The view gives you a great look of the city at an affordable price. Lastly, the location is convenient for your shopping as the shopping mall is proximate to the hotel at approximately 5 minutes walk.

CLG is now my preferred hotel of choice in the cities. The one in Newtown far surpassed my expectations. I expected noise, the hustle and bustle of the city, but on the contrary, the place was clean, peaceful, safe, and comfortable with top service from the staff. I didn't feel like I was in a hotel, as the place felt so comfortable and welcoming. On Valentines Day we received gifts.

Best hotel in joburg. Super clean and they even have a mall super close the hotel is very safe and have good food i mean it’s not a joke the food and cocktails is just wow!! I will be visiting again. The only degrading experience when i first walked jn the hotel ghe Lady on the reception “Khuselo” did not even smile nor welcome us she was on a call and i really wanted to use the toilet i tried waving and came closer to the reception she did not even look even if i said excuse me. And note she was on a personal call. Its like she doesn’t even care about the job nor the reputation. Don’t forget to order from their menu i wish i could have met the chef he/she is a gem💯
