No. 1 of 4-Star Select Hotels in Johor Bahru

Johor Bahru, or JB as most people call it, is one of those places that’s easy to love. Right at the southern tip of Malaysia and just a quick hop from Singapore, it’s a fun mix of local culture, great food, and laid-back vibes. Whether you're planning a family getaway, a solo trip, or just a weekend escape, JB has something for everyone. You’ll find everything from affordable guesthouses to stylish hotels and family-friendly resorts, so finding a place to stay is super easy. It’s also a great starting point for exploring more of southern Malaysia, but honestly, there’s plenty to enjoy right here too—from historic temples and buzzing night markets to theme parks and trendy cafés.
With Senai International Airport (JHB) located just outside the city, Johor Bahru is most likely where you would land if you are traveling into southern Malaysia. Even though it's not as big as KLIA, it does the job. If you're landing here, save yourself the trouble and simply reserve a Grab—it's much more dependable, affordable, and safe than local taxis.
JB is essentially Singapore's next-door neighbor, located directly across the border. The city core is about 30 kilometers from the airport, and although it is not very large, it is teeming with shopping centers, street cuisine, and unexpectedly interesting sights. Although you can walk around places like City Square and Jalan Dhoby, Grab is the most convenient way to get about outside of those regions. Although they are slow and not very tourist-friendly, public buses are an option.
Have a brief layover or a delayed flight? To crash without worrying about traffic, there are a number of respectable hotels close to the airport:
| Hotel Name | Location (Distance from Senai Airport) | Services |
| Impiana Hotel Senai | Senai Town (≈4.5 km, 10 min drive) | Free Wi-Fi, Pool, Gym, Business Center, Restaurant |
| Sem9 Senai "Formerly Known As Perth Hotel" | Jalan Terminal 1 (≈2 km, 5 min drive) | Airport Shuttle, Free Wi-Fi, 24-Hour Front Desk, Budget-Friendly |
| AB Inn Hotel | Near Airport Cargo Area (≈3 km) | Basic Rooms, Free Wi-Fi, Air Conditioning, Convenience Store Nearby |

If you're searching for a weekend getaway, a family vacation, or your first trip, Johor Bahru has plenty of excellent locations to stay. Here is a brief overview of some of the most important factors to think about:

City Square and Wong Ah Fook Jalan - Explore the bustling city center's street food vendors, dine, and shop. Excellent for a laid-back day out.
City Square and Sultan Abu Bakar Mosque - Take a stroll around the adjacent city plaza after seeing this lovely mosque.
Puteri Harbour and Legoland - Fun rides at Legoland and peaceful views at the waterfront make this place ideal for families.
Old Chinese Temple & Night Market in Pasar Karat - See the ancient temple and look for refreshments and interesting things at the night market.
