Nanshukan is an old hotel but the rooms were well-maintained. Staff were courteous and friendly. It serves its famous pork name at breakfast.

Our stay at Nanshukan was truly wonderful! The service was exceptional, and we especially loved that our room was on the 7th floor, offering a really excellent view from the terrace. A huge, unexpected highlight was the owner's generosity in providing us with free, delicious shabu-shabu. It was a memorable meal and a kind gesture that made our stay perfect. Highly recommend!👍👍👍

The front desk staff at this hotel were incredibly kind and helpful. I strongly recommend booking breakfast; they offer a fantastic pork shabu-shabu buffet. The hotel boasts a rich history, dating back over 100 years. Although the facilities are a bit dated, they are perfectly functional and don't detract from the stay at all. It offers excellent value for money.

This was my first time staying here. I booked it because of its great location. The staff were all so warm and friendly, making my stay very pleasant. I also loved the complimentary polar bear ice cream bars, coffee, and alcoholic beverages. The room was meticulously clean and tidy. The biggest highlight was the delicious breakfast. One of the male staff members gently suggested trying柚子胡椒 (yuzu pepper) with the shabu-shabu or even adding it to the miso soup. I tried it, and it was absolutely delicious! The hotel is about a 5-minute walk from Tenmonkan. The ground floor features a lobby, and a restaurant further inside, which seemed very popular with locals in the evenings. If I revisit Kagoshima, I'd definitely like to try their food. My room was on the 5th floor and I appreciated how spacious it was. I found the flyers for local events posted in the elevator very useful; thanks to them, I even got to see a signed Shohei Ohtani ball! :)
