Our stay at Nanshukan was truly wonderful! The service was exceptional, and we especially loved that our room was on the 7th floor, offering a really excellent view from the terrace. A huge, unexpected highlight was the owner's generosity in providing us with free, delicious shabu-shabu. It was a memorable meal and a kind gesture that made our stay perfect. Highly recommend!👍👍👍

The front desk staff at this hotel were incredibly kind and helpful. I strongly recommend booking breakfast; they offer a fantastic pork shabu-shabu buffet. The hotel boasts a rich history, dating back over 100 years. Although the facilities are a bit dated, they are perfectly functional and don't detract from the stay at all. It offers excellent value for money.

What a surprisingly wonderful old ryokan! Operating for a century, its interior boasts a rich Showa-era charm. It definitely feels historic but is spotlessly clean. The true highlight was breakfast, which unexpectedly featured pork shabu-shabu. The broth was made with genuine, high-quality ingredients, and the yuzu kosho was locally sourced. Paired with the black pork, it was absolutely delicious! 😋

This was my first time staying here. I booked it because of its great location. The staff were all so warm and friendly, making my stay very pleasant. I also loved the complimentary polar bear ice cream bars, coffee, and alcoholic beverages. The room was meticulously clean and tidy. The biggest highlight was the delicious breakfast. One of the male staff members gently suggested trying柚子胡椒 (yuzu pepper) with the shabu-shabu or even adding it to the miso soup. I tried it, and it was absolutely delicious! It even gave me some ideas for cooking at home. Thanks to this hotel, my trip to Kagoshima was truly enjoyable. I will definitely stay here again next time I visit Kagoshima! Thank you for everything.

The hotel is old but has a very nice atmosphere. The staff were all nice and friendly. The owner even gave us free breakfast, coffee is also free at the lounge anytime. They also have handmade Kagoshima souvenirs. It was a very nice experience.

The hotel is about a 5-minute walk from Tenmonkan. The ground floor features a lobby, and a restaurant further inside, which seemed very popular with locals in the evenings. If I revisit Kagoshima, I'd definitely like to try their food. My room was on the 5th floor and I appreciated how spacious it was. I found the flyers for local events posted in the elevator very useful; thanks to them, I even got to see a signed Shohei Ohtani ball! :)

The room featured both tatami mat flooring and a Western-style bed. With a washing machine and a stove, it seems very convenient for extended stays. While the overall feel was a bit dated, it didn't bother me. The breakfast, however, was absolutely delicious. I'd definitely consider staying here again on my next visit.

Breakfast is a must get. Shabu shabu is really good. Room is slightly old, but is huge. Location is within walking distance to most important shopping district.

Very gracious service and hospitality, but the hotel is just too old. Could hear the neighbor blasting interesting TV programs at 3am through the paper thin walls. Location is fantastic though, right outside the central park.

Above all, the hospitality from every single staff member is exceptional! And the breakfast is incredibly delicious! Hot dishes are served piping hot (never lukewarm) and cold dishes are perfectly chilled. Their attention to detail is truly astounding; even the small spoon for the yuzu kosho on the table is replaced with a fresh one for the next guest if you momentarily step away! Simply brilliant!
