Hotel Route Inn Kyoto Kameoka ★★★

📍 1-6-1 Kameokaeki-Kita, Kameoka

"The hotel is right next to the JR line, which made it perfect for us as we were traveling with big luggage. The staff were supper friendly and helped us a lot. The room was perfect for overnight and would be suitable for a few days, especially while traveling. The onsen area is nice, even though we didn't have time to use it."

📍 Hiedanocho Ashinoyama 1-4, Kameoka

"Private hot spring ♨️, one hotel, two meals, perfect experience. The location is a bit far away, but there are 3 special buses to pick up and drop off. It's a pity that I can't catch it, but there are buses arriving. The traffic is low. The number of private hot spring rooms is limited, so you need to book in advance."

📍 Dorogafuchi-1-1 Honmechō Hiramatsu, Kameoka

"I was put off by the loudness of the air conditioner when I went to bed. Even when I adjusted it with the remote, it was bothersome, so I ended up turning it off. It was cold. The pillow was too hard and didn't fit me well, so I couldn't sleep well. I also tried the baths in the hotel, but the open-air bath barely had any water in it, so I couldn't use it. Other than that, I think it was good. My wife said she wants to go again. It's within an hour from our home, so..."

"Nothing Victorian about this place Apple pie had no Apple in it and overpriced in size and quality !! The English tea was good but only half cup given No cutlery, wipe out napkins or water given unless asked. Run down place with few British memorabilia signage. Definitely not recommended the drive!"

📍 Sakurazuka-6-1 Higashibetsuincho, Kameoka

"I had a last-minute work commitment and made a reservation! But then I had to cancel it at the last minute? They said I can't cancel all four days' worth?! I understand that it's unavoidable on the day itself, but shouldn't they at least refund me for three days? Am I being unreasonable?"

📍 Shimotoge-20-6 Hiedanocho Saeki, Kameoka

"The hotel is open from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and the adult admission fee is 1,000 yen, but if you add us as a friend on LINE, it's half price at 500 yen. When I asked the front desk about the bus stop, they kindly told me, "There's a shuttle bus at 4:00 PM, so please board it." The hot spring water is a simple, weakly radioactive hot spring. It's colorless and transparent, and is said to be effective for neuralgia, muscle pain, joint pain, frozen shoulder, sensitivity to cold, and fatigue recovery. It's also said to be effective for chronic digestive diseases, skin diseases, gynecological conditions, arteriosclerosis, gout, and high blood pressure. The bathtub was also very clean."

📍 6 Kakihana Chaya, Hiedano-cho, Kameoka-shi, Kameoka

"After checking in, I found a lounge at the back of the first floor, offering complimentary alcoholic beverages and juices. The room was new, a Western-style room with a bed and a table with chairs. It felt quite comfortable and cozy. The hot springs were accessible through a separate building, which was a bit daunting during the colder months. There was also a private open-air bath, but it felt shoddily constructed on the balcony, with the air conditioner unit directly overhead, making it difficult to relax and enjoy a bath. I quickly left. The dinner area had a private izakaya-style feel, but it was extremely cramped. The tables were also narrow, making it difficult to relax and enjoy a meal. The biggest drag was the dinner itself. While the menu offered a wide variety of dishes, the portions were all very small. The sashimi served was a 1.5cm cube of tuna. It was too small to even enjoy. All the dishes were the same size as breakfasts at other hotels. The last dish, Kamameshi, was not served at the table, but was served in a bowl. This made sense when the staff asked us at check-in if we wanted to order additional dishes. Overall, it was an izakaya-style inn, with no greetings from staff and everything left to the part-timers."

"Very close to the station, the hotel is relatively old, dinner is a set meal, breakfast has free rice balls to take away, very delicious. The hotel is not far from the Hozugawa boat station, convenient and sparsely populated."

"This time, my family of four stayed overnight in a room with an open-air bath. The spring water was excellent, and it left my skin feeling silky smooth. The washing area was a little cold outside, but there was a Refa provided, which cheered my daughter up, and she enjoyed soaking in the open-air bath and watching the sun rise. The food was delicious, and best of all, the Kameoka rice was exquisite! There was a wide selection of alcohol, and it was all-inclusive with no extra charge! It was a great deal, and we left feeling very satisfied. I would definitely stay here again."

HOTEL Kameoka ★★
"Cheap and good quality, half the price of ordinary hotels, a villa only costs more than 250 yuan a night. Two floors, with three beds upstairs, it feels like it can accommodate 6 people. There are air conditioners upstairs and downstairs. Downstairs is the living room, kitchen and bathroom. The villa is in the mountains, I saw red leaves, and the air is good, but I have to drive."

"A very traditional Japanese onsen hotel, not too far from Arashiyama. The hotel's facilities are a bit old; the mattress was clearly worn, and I could feel the springs, which was very uncomfortable. The hotel's facilities are otherwise complete, and the onsen is decent, nothing special. Overall, the value for money is just average."

"My daughter, her husband, and I went to Tsukiya, a hot spring resort close to Kyoto city, to enjoy some delicious food and drinks. The phone service was excellent, and when we mentioned we were elderly, they upgraded us to a room with a private open-air bath at check-in. Despite only being open for a few years, the maintenance was excellent, and everything was clean and pleasant. Kyoto's famous kumiko woodworking was incorporated throughout the building, and the abundant use of wood and bamboo from Keihoku created a warm and inviting atmosphere. We ate in private rooms, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious, with meticulous attention to detail in the cuisine. The young staff were all kind and friendly. The hot springs warmed us to the core, and after soaking three times, I felt so energized that I almost forgot my cane! The free drinks in the lobby and the amenities in our room were also excellent, and we would definitely like to visit again if we have the opportunity. Thank you very much."
