The Good: - Separate toilet & bathroom. - 5mins drives to Ginza falls. - short driving distance many scenic places. - fireplace at the lobby. - service people are helpful. - Tatami floor. The Bad: - Room very Old. - Not very clean (window dusty, mosquito net rusty). - No water kettle (can only get hot water from their coffee machine at the lobby). - Air Con stuffy & Window not able to open. - Limited Parking space. - Expensive for what they provide. - Not easy to get food nearby, so needs to include breakfast & dinner which are buffet style. Variety is ok but food only average. Not recommended for the price.

Beautiful 大雪 area with sulfur smelling natural onsen water. Nice outdoor onsen, fireplace, lounge area for free drinks including sake, beer, wine, gelato, soft serve ice cream, good finger foods. The unrenovated areas are old looking. There are many tour groups each day and dinner time especially feels very crowded as if you are a member of their tour group. Not a very pleasant experience but food quite ok. In terms of service, all the female staff were helpful and friendly especially the female supervisor at the check in counter, she was helpful and very dedicated. However I had an unpleasant experience with a male supervisor when checking in, very unfriendly, told me no kettle in room can be provided while later I found out there are kettles. It made the overall experience very negative and the tone of voice was very unpleasant. Maybe he is overworked so I didn't take it personally but this kind of service is very unusual in Japan or anywhere in the world at this level of accommodation. Not sure if will go back again or recommend to family or friends.

Great location, clean facilities, and a good variety of food. There were drinks and snacks available from 5 PM, and the dinner buffet was excellent.

Everything was fantastic, the location, the spacious and style of the room, the services especially for the outdoor onsen, I love it. The dinner and breakfast were reasonable for the price.

There's a lot of activity to do in this hotel. Dinner and Breakfast buffet is very good and variety. The room is very clean and nice view. I will be back again if I coming to Hokkaido. 👍👍👍

Room and everywhere is clean, the offer of snacks and drinks from 3pm-10pm at the reception is a very generous gesture indeed. Buffet dinner and breakfast are also good with a lot of choices, though prepared to queue during the peak hours. It would perfect if the public bath on the ground floor can have outdoor onsen, it is now only the 5/F onsen with both indoor and outdoor pool. Must say the outdoor pool is huge and pleasant.

We were pampered by the welcome appetizer and drinks. Great buffet dinner and breakfast. Enjoyed the facilities in the hotel and open air onsen .The hotel was not crowded during our stay . We will stay here again if we revisit the place.

Facilities are quite ok and better. Onsen looks good and food is also better.

Aged but well maintained hotel. Room is big and clean. Meal options are good with wide selections available. Onsen is nice and clean too.

My 3rd time to this hotel.. love every bit of it... will be my no.1 place whenever I'm in Sounkyo

Very beautiful

Very stylish hotel. Is newly renovated. I was a bit worried about some comments that said that only lobby is new and rooms are old and smelly. At least in our case the room was new , modern, spacious with awesome look to the mountain, river and sunrise.  Onsen is big, an outdoor area is my love, as you can breathe fresh air and enjoy the warmth of the water. Also the hair oil before drying hair was so good. Totally delicious food, amazing dish selection, rich palette of variant tastes. Suitable for all culinary preferences. Definitely recommend to take both breakfast and dinner. Though hotel is pricey, but it was worth it!!!
